The following is a release from the US MintWASHINGTON-The United States Mint will open sales for product options with Dwight D. Eisenhower Presidential $1 Coins on April 13 at noon Eastern Daylight Time (EDT). All product options contain circulating quality coins from the bureau's facilities at Philadelphia or Denver that have never been placed into circulation. The packaging displays the name of the President, the mint of origin ("P" or "D"), and the face value of the contents. Product options and their prices are as follows:

Call me crazy, but I am actually thinking of getting some rolls of these. I said thinking. My main objective has always been the Coin & Chronicles set, but I am also considering some other products, like the one dollar coin cover or the coin and spouse medal.

First and foremost I am shocked that jbuck is the first to respond to this. Seriously though, can't imagine you not getting a couple rolls. I know that you like Ike (ahem) dollar coins, and I'm sure there are plenty of threads out there that explain why you do, but does it extend to the man? Seems like it must if you're interested in this coin.

My love of the Big Dollar came first, but one can only obsesses over a coin for so long before looking into the man whose face adorns it. Eisenhower, the man, is someone worth admiring. I rank Eisenhower first among Republican Presidents. Yes, above Lincoln, T. Roosevelt, and Reagan.

I'm interested as well, but do have some questions. If you order a roll, you get a mint sealed roll. That seems simple enough. If you order a bag, am I correct to assume that they're loose inside the bag (versus 4 rolls inside the bag)? If so, it seems like rolls would be more desirable because the coins won't be scratching and dinging each other like they do in a bag. If you buy the 250 coin box, how are the rolls packaged inside the box? Are there just ten rolls inside the box or are there two smaller boxes with five rolls inside? If you have them, pictures would be great! Given the complete lack of interest that's currently being paid by banks, there doesn't seem to be much downside to these. Wait a few years and then sell the rolls on ebay for a slight profit. Or, get lucky and the rolls turn out to be worth more or get some sort of special variety.

Looking at this coin, I like it much better than some of the presidential dollar coins in this series. Ike looks good

I wasn't clear. I'm not talking about them being disinterested in getting the dollar coins. I'm talking about them not paying interest (as in return on investment). Since interest is so low, I could likely make more money by keeping the rolls for a few years and then selling them on ebay. Of course I have to value my time at zero in order to make that work, but I like doing that sort of thing anyway. The mint will be at a local show in a couple of weeks. Perhaps they'll have some to sell there.
