I can't tell if it's a die crack or if the plating is separating.

I don't believe I've ever said this before, but your closeup is too close.

Definitely looks like a die chip - see the crack extending NW and SW from it?

Yes, your close-up is too close. A pic of the whole coin, - both sides, and the affected area with a description would be ideal.

dang lol, never been told that before on here, usually the other way around. I don't have my phone due to my daughter deciding it needed a shower so I used my tripod and camera with my loupe and then it was too large so I has to crop it and this was the only way I could get it to submit, :( I just can't win with this photographing coins

Yeah, it was kinda fun for me to say that.

That's all the context I need - a look at the full surface to see if any other part is suffering from zinc rot, and maybe the head alone (like you did) to see the feature in context. It's ironic and unfortunate to see something like this where it is on Lincoln's head, but it's definitely a nice chunk out of the die. Literally.

Thanks coop, I kinda figured, I have yet to find anything that has a premium, the coolest I found was an 1893 in extra fine condition but even that has no premium to my knowledge.
