Bryan78 Pillar of the Community United States 1068 Posts	Posted 04/09/2015 09:47 am Is it possible to have a (W) ASE without the mintmark?... I was checking out a ASE in a slab and in the comments it said that some West Point made Eagles doe not have a (W) mintmark cause it was in a tube but it was a West Point Eagle... I have a few MS-69 Eagles that do not have a mintmark though the slab says it is... Report this Post to the Staff

biokemist6 Bedrock of the Community United States 12437 Posts	Posted 04/09/2015 12:29 pm West Point has struck the vast majority of bullion Eagles for the past 15 years, San Francisco started overflow mintage in 2011 due to capacity restraints at West Point. As GR58 mentioned, the only way to confirm the source is to take a coin directly from the original green Monster Box which has a Mint seal on it denoting the location. Report this Post to the Staff
Doug58s Pillar of the Community United States 899 Posts	Posted 04/09/2015 6:22 pm The key thing to remember - the (W) slabbed coin is a bullion coin. About 40 Million bullion coins are made yearly. The W mint marked coins are collector versions - they go through a slightly different minting and handling/packaging process and only about 250 thousand are made a year. Report this Post to the Staff
