As some of you have noticed, there are to many pics in some posts. I guess this question is directed to Mom and Pop mainly but all are welcome to comment. Can mods delete bad/unusable pics at their discretion? Is there a problem with filling up CCf's disc? Just a concerned member wanting to know. Thanks for the great site.

Interesting question.

Most people want to see pictures. Do you have a example
of a post with to many pictures.

This site recently increased the size of a picture, that is allowed,
so I am thinking there is not a space problem.

I have nothing to do with how this site is run ... Just my opinion.

We can alter any post in any forum, with no record left of our presence. We "delete" nothing. It goes somewhere invisible to the public, and we can put it right back if we want, or throw someone's words back in their face.

That's a standard capability of Admins on any forum on the Internet. Most are not as picky as we are about deleting stuff.

The discussion about imagery is only about consideration. It is only considerate to crop images to just the coin, present it oriented properly to read, and reduce filesizes to not cripple someone on a smartphone with bandwidth limitations (you're costing them money to look at your pics), or a slower home Internet connection. And sixteen different angles of the same spot does nothing but frustrate the viewer.

It's not only common courtesy, it makes evaluating what you've posted far easier.

The amount of space images take up on CCF storage isn't really a factor. We'd prefer you kept them here, in fact, so they don't disappear down the line when you change hosts or something. And we will cheerfully teach you how to do anything on the above list you don't already know.
Rest in Peace

Thanks Brian. I guess I just need to stop concerning myself with it and let the mods handle it from now on though.

John, we just got back from Soaring Eagle or is it sucking eagle or the native american revenge lol. Good time with the grand kids.
I'm often tempted to post a comment about a post with a crazy amount of pictures. Then again who am I ? Go with the flow I guess.
I'll lose my money at Mt. Pleasant lol.

I have zero problem with uploading a lot of pics here, in fact its preferred so they don't disappear.

Like Ddave said it's all about consideration, crop the pics and don't upload 6 pictures that are virtually identical and don't show anything different.

As far as the cost for hosting the images, it doesn't cost any extra until we have to move to a bigger disk. But the waste will make us get to that point faster.

It would actually be a great assistance for us if more senior members like the three of you would post such (tactful) comments in threads where your expertise makes you certain the images are redundant. That makes it peer pressure instead of us being top-down (and perceived as heavyhanded for some reason beneficial only to us).

All I'd ask is that you tread very lightly if you do so, because in many cases this is happening from sheer ignorance of the necessities on the part of the poster, and with that information they would be happy to alter their habits. It's not easy - trust me on that.
