You can see a raised section from the rim to underneath the bottom part of the upper loop in S then the incuse line goes from the rim all the way to A in states

I am sticking with the idea that the blank was damaged before striking.

I don't know. I do know I haven't called one correctly in a while now. You can use me to rule out possibles.

I don't think it was damaged before the strike, if so wouldn't the raised part be flattened? maybe the die was damaged.

Makes sense sel...I wonder if something like a wire mabi with something on the end was on the die and the one end damaged the die and the incuse line is from the wire? Could a wire get stuck on a die though being as hard as it is?

One way or another it was obviously there before the strike. The trouble with Zlincolns, though, is the additional factor of the layered planchet doing weird things which can resemble die errors. It complicates things. My leaning here is something up with the planchet rather than the die, but don't let's quote me, eh?

To me I see die damage. If it were planchet damage it would show on the devices. This flows behind the devices, so there was damage on the die in the fields.
