Hi all, I got this coin from a friend today. I am told that it is Persian but I have no clue. I am having trouble telling the date. I think it looks like 1590 but I am not sure it is even numbers.
The main thing that's strange to me is It looks like either some kind of vise job, or I wondered if it could be a re-struck coin?
Any thoughts would be much appreciated.

I believe those are numbers, but they appear to be Arabic-Turkish numbers of date 1295. And it does look like two coins were pressed together.

edit - corrected my statement about date

The underneath coin is a 50 Dinars from Iran AH1295 (1878), it has been overstruck by the mint in Qandahar (Afghanistan) to make a Paisa which is dated AH1322 (1904)

Oh, great info. Thanks, I thought it was over struck.
Any idea of the value? Also was it a common practice to over strike these coins?
