I have a number of Mercury dimes I inherited from three different sources. I'm trying to put them all together and kind of find out how much they are worth so when my children get them they will know. One is more likely to want them and I would the other one to get a fair price. My question is (and I know they probably won't get full price from Red Book but a starting point) what would be the price of a G4 1934 Mercury dime. Red Book doesn't show one.

If you are saving them to pass on down I would suggest getting an album and trying to fill as many holes in the set as possible as a start.

As to value a lot of people recommend the Numismedia website vs. the Red Book or other monthly publications (other than the grey sheet)

If you are unable to find quoted prices - and you obviously already have the appropriate skepticism of printed guides so I won't go there - it's either because the coin is simply unavailable in that grade, or it has no numismatic premium and essentially tracks melt value plus a little bit because it's a Merc instead of a lump of silver.

I agree with jack jeckel:

First, separate all the coins by years and mint marks (the letters on the back). Then, get an album and stuff it with the coins that not only fit the years, but also are the best grades (details) for the years that you have.

Common dates, slightly above melt in G4'ish.

$1.19 as of close on Friday.
