ok dave here I go set the camera to macro. I took these 2 pictures of a penny using 2 Janos lights with tissue paper over the lamps. the pictures measured 4.5 megs all I did was crop and resize until they fit here nothing else. I am still not sure how to adjust even this camera. I will say thou you was right about the canon. its very nice to not have to squeeze the shutter. the canon and the Nikon are both wonderful camera. I understand the different that being able to take pictures from the computer makes it is so much more easyier. I just wish I could understand how to set these camera. thank you so much for your patiene and understanding. I have been a lineman training instructor for years. I will say there was a few but over time they got it hotline and barehand is some of the most dangerous work one can do over time I got them there hopefully you and the rest of the members will get me there thank you all.

Rmpsrpms is the one to talk about how best to use a Nikon - I've never owned one. I will say, though, that there's software available for it that will allow you to shoot from the computer just like Canon. I just don't think it's free.

rocky...Dave's right, there is no free software for Nikon. CameraControlPro2 is very expensive (like $250) and is not that great compared with the Canon software. I would recommend ControlMyNikon but it does not support the D3200. Here is the entry in their FAQ:

Q. Is the D3200/D3100/D3000/D70/D50 supported?

A. No. Since Nikon does not provide a SDK for it we cannot support it.

You may be stuck with buying CCP2 if you want to tether your D3200, but for the price of the software you can get a good used Canon with free software that is actually superior to what Nikon charges for.
