ADVICE NEEDED!
One of my dumb branches told me yesterday that they no longer want me to deposit the boxes of halves there.
Now, can a bank really deny me the right to make a deposit?
Thanks for any feedback!

If you have an account there, they can't.

I agree with Mfhorn, if you have an account with them I don't believe they can stop you from taking your money. I would talk with the bank president or supervisor. Your tellers are complaining because of the work they have to do. Wow what a concept having to work to get paid a wage. I would give them some to this !

I just dropped off a box at that branch that said they do not want me to deposit there anymore. The "assistant" manager that asked me not to was not there, but I think I am going to make this branch my MAIN DUMP spot!

Question? I had a 1972 that sounded funny so I weighed it and it is 10.4g. Any ideas?

I am really astonished by some of the silver hauls I see here. I tried one box from my bank and it certainly did not have any silver... never even felt like it was in there from the moment I got the box. Where do you get these ones wrapped in the yellow paper, they seem to be the best ones? Mine were in this ugly brownish earth tone wrappers.

Loomis/Wells Fargo has the yellow wrapper rolls.

If your bank doesn't want your deposits then talk to the main branch or something and tell them you will gladly close all accounts with them and report them to the Better Business Bureau as well as the local Business Association.

I think the FDIC insurance has a part that says they cannot refuse a deposit unless it would conflict with the insurance limit of an account or something liek that, so deposit $50,000 in pennies if you want to.

Banks are jsut getting lazy and tellers not wanting to do any work because their cushy high paying jobs would mean they have to work for a living, thus why they don't like giving change to any non-account holders and tell people to go to a gas station.

Bank want the FDIC and other perks fromt he government for performing duties, but they are failing to perform those required duties.

Can't wait until July when I can get more halves. Hope to get my first comm, since I have now got NIFC, silver, gold plated, holed, and stickered. Wouldn't mind finding a foreign in a box of halves either. how big is a reale again? Would it appear in a roll of halves?

I re-roll all my halves for 2 reasons.
First of all I can dump them easier.
I take them to a bank my wife has an account
with. I can get rid of $4000 in very little time
They have lots of branches and I rotate to different
branches and try not to visit a branch more then once a month. I dump $1000-$2000 at a branch. I never deposit the money, I use to but the bank thought I was structuring the money because I would deposit bags of halves and they would send them off to be counted and credit my account then I would withdraw the money to order halves from the bank I get my halves from. This caused excessive transactions involving cash this raised a flag with their account fraud division so they closed my account and cancelled my credit card been with them for years never a late payment it really made me mad but I learned a good lesson. So if I roll them I get the cash immediately
get the dumping over in a couple of hours and save a bunch
of GAS and TIME running around to coin machines that have limits on the amount you can dump. But do not forget
even though you bring them in rolled they have to unroll them put them in bags and send them off this takes labor and time that is the main reason I rotate to different branches each week. Last but not least after dumping I
take my wife to lunch so she is happy to help me on
dump day.

Still no luck on this box, almost half way and nothing yet.
And I get mine from Chase and they come in the yellow wraps.

@Littlebirdy8

I would let it go and move on rather than call them out.

Most banks have in writing fees for counting coins.

Most do not enforce it.

A BMO bank branch that I dumped at once a week told ,e back in January that they were going to start charging me to dump coin. I knew that BMO had a fee but never had a problem at any of their branches. I had to dump there weekly rather than every 2 to 3 weeks that I try to rotate the rest of my dumps banks since I have to work 6 days a week every week.

Anywho I have been paranoid ever since that they would put the word out to the other branches that I had been warned about the fees but so far no problem at the other 3 branches I go to.

If I were you I would check back in a few months and I'm sure there will be a new crew of teller and managers and you will be able to dump again.

Better than being told to never come back again and having your account flagged.

Thanks Jack, Its funny how things happen, I see a couple of posts people pulling Commemoratives, then I start wining about not pulling one and bam I pull one. Now everyone start pulling barbers so I can wine about not pulling a barber so I can fine one. LOL Its a great feeling after have a bunch of boxes with no silver then getting a good box. I will not be purchasing boxes this week. I will be out of town for a few weeks to visit my Daughter in Phoenix. I am going to try and purchase a few boxes there. Not sure where yet, most like a Wells Fargo since I have an account with them. Keep up the hunt and keep posting love seeing the pictures and reading about everyone's success.
