A bank teller told me today that she has a friend at Loomis who has been pulling silver and proofs for her as they come through. She just wanted to know if I wanted any of the extra proofs that she didn't want. No wonder my numbers have gone down. Normally I would be skeptical, but the local Loomis has started to roll their own coins instead of sending them off, and the silver has taken a quick decline. At first I thought it would be great, but the only silver I've found lately have been coins with dirty edges that would have been easily missed by edge searchers. I picked up my 4 boxes today, but I may switch to nickels for a while.

Coinrus, I don't know. I don't like it either. This lady has no reason to lie though, because she doesn't even know that I search boxes of halves. As far as she knows, I'm just a casual collector of coins and old currency. The teller at my pick up bank had warned me about the coins being rolled here instead of being ordered a few weeks ago, so it's a pretty new process at this Loomis location. I guess they haven't worked out all of the bugs yet, just the silver.

Just Cracked open 4 boxes, Box 1, 1-40%er, 1-74D DDO, and 87S Clad Proof, Box 2 is a good one, yielded 1-90%er and 10-40%ers and 27 NIFC. Box 3 is a skunk for silver, pulled 4-13, and 94S Clad proof. Box 4, 2-40%ers and 39 NIFC. On my way to make a dump and pick up another 4 boxes. Nice to see the silver. I am seeing more NIFC coins lately. Remember to "LOVE THE HUNT"! Just went over my first $100,000.00 in coins searched,

Hi Carlos - assume you mean NIFC...
Not Issued For Circulation - i.e. a coin only issued in Proof or Uncirculated sets or rolls sold to collectors at a premium.

Yes I did mean NIFC. Thank you. I have ordered my first box of halves today. I live in Northern Utah. I hope I have some beginners luck.

Was on vacation for a few weeks, checked a few bank for teller trays, got about $20 in halves all total, no silver. Did find one teller that had 5 rolls of Ike's though, got one roll, nothing exceptional, unless you just like Ikes.

@bishftl: great collection man. love the shield coin. haven't posted in a while. bad news up above about loomis. some recent boxes it's true only the dark edged 40% coins made it to me. it has certainly been dry here in Jersey for me. I'm down to one box. it seems to yield the 40's. other bank was obviously someone else's re-rolled dumps. no point there. I've been doing metal detecting and finding silver there...

Finally finished my four boxes, and as expected, nothing. Even when I don't find silver, I always find at least 1 or 2 proofs. To tell you how bad these boxes were, the highlight of the night was a roll with every coin facing the same direction. (my second such roll from a box)
