@ARBY96 MY correction, the 1962 scratched Ben Franklin sold for $20, I had a roll of Buffalo nickels that sold for $35. I got the amounts mixed up.

Thanks guys, its well worth sticking it out and keep searching. If I can find numbers like this in my small town I know bigger cities should have a better chance of finding some silver. I wish you all well and keep posting your finds.

Littlebirdy8, still $20 bucks is a good sale when one gets around $7 when selling silver at spot price for 90%ers. That last Franklin I found is in real nice shape would love to find a barber in that kind of condition.

Went to pick up my $2 bills today, but they didn't come in and should be in next week. They had 3 loose so I asked if they had any large dollars or halves. "5 rolls" she tells me, "$60 worth". leaving aside the fct I corrected her when she miscounted. I noticed on them they all had my handwriting in the same wrappers I got them in, but there is that rule "Take all halves and ikes", so I took them, so that int he future they know I will take any they find so they don't have to deal with them.
So not sure how it works when you get your own rolls back, or how I should feel. but it is gas money that bought them and I didn't have to relook them so I lost nothing at least.

Arby - that was awesome - a 1900 Barber!
Guys - is there any particular sort of bank that's more likely to have half dollars? On my last trip to the USA I hardly found any at all in Florida, but a few years ago in Colorado I got some from almost every bank I tried. Are old-fashioned looking downtown branches a better bet than those modern suburban 'drive-through' type banks? My next trip to the US is in October and I hope to pick up a few halves in LA before I join my cruise ship!

You pretty much have to order then at the bank and pick them up a week later. Not many keep halves around because that is money they just can't often use because not everyone will take them for things like cashed checks, etc.

Credit Unions are good for ordering halves too, they seem to be more customer friendly.

Take them all otherwise they might get wise that thereis something valuable in there if you only pick one or 2 of them out. I always take them all and don't even look at them just put them in my pocket and say "Thank you" and walk away.

Got $320 in halves today off my banks coin counter. Found 10 clad halves and a lone 1964. Also found an abused German Zwei Mark 1907 coin that's .900 fine sliver and Australian 20 and 50 cent coins. No NIFC and nothing newer than 2000.
