I found a 40%er today that was marked by another CRH. The first thing I saw was the silvery edge, and then I saw the mark, and then I saw the 1968 to confirm it was silver. Ahh, the joys of hunting coins I also today missed a 40%er for I think the first time. I edge search first, and then face search, so each coin gets checked twice. And today, I found a 68 that I missed! Well, I guess that is why I check em twice. Maybe if the hunter marked the obverse instead of the reverse, he would have noticed. Who knows,

I found a 1974D DDO the other week and the coin (along with a lot of other 1972, 1973, and 1974D halves around here) was marked with a black marker over the "We Trust" I had always wondered if it I should keep checking them of take the others person word for it that there was no error

Hey Skidbid, I prefer 91% Isopropyl Alcohol to take of those kind of marks, its less hazardous and works great and does not hurt the coins finish at all. Jack nice finds on the walkers, I weill take that any day, what condition is that 1920 walker? I have found a 74DDO that was marked once, so I check them all. Good luck everyone. Keep posting!! I pick up 4 boxes tomorrow hope to get 12 boxes for the week if all my banks order.

skibdib - Quote: jdk, you may want to find out what day they place the order, and touch base with them on the morning of. My places usually order around 10, so I would make sure to call around 9 if I wanted to place an order that day. Helps them to not forget. I may do that. I did not want to risk coming across as pushy so thus far I've limited to my requests to about once a week. I figure I'll give them another shot or two before I start calling. It just seems like such a fickle thing I don't want it to backfire on me. Thanks for the advice. And 8 pieces of silver in two boxes is a good day!

Went through one box of halves yesterday and found three clad and about four NIFC ones including the first 2014 P I've seen. Very few marked coins in this box.
Still looking for my monster box.

I'm starting to realize that finding silver in halves in a lot more difficult than I had hoped. I just started CRH a few weeks ago and snagged THIRTY SIX (36) 40%'ers out of about $150 worth of rolls. Granted most were in pretty bad shape I was ecstatic! I also found a Franklin half during that same trip (but at a different bank). Now I've gone through a couple hundred more and got absolutely nothing. I read here where you guys do 3-4 boxes and get skunked too! Is it even worth it? Right now I just have a jar and I'm keeping all the halves I get. I haven't really even looked through them for anything non-silver that is worth keeping. I'd love to get more silver but I may stick to pre-81 pennies for right now. Atleast when I go through a box I always get stuff I want to keep :)

Thanks skibdib, that was the first walker I've found and probably my best 4 boxes since I started. Loving the hunt!

Good to see the silver finds out there. Arby, your persistence is remarkable. I don't have anything to search this week (or last), but do have the pic below to share. It's my second grader's homework I was helping her with. Got a chuckle, I'm sure you guys will pick up on it pretty quick. Now she'll probably be the only one in the class knowing the error on the homework!
