JFK Half Dollar Roll Hunters: Silver, Proofs And Other Finds

pretty sure its a counterfeit if it weighs only 9.93 grams, that is off by whopping 2. grams... unless your scale is off.. conduct a ring test with another 90% silver half dollar and see if the ring is different.

4 boxes to open in about an hour or 2. First box displayed this:

so 2 benders, and I think a 3rd silver in the top row, 2nd from right.

2nd box showed no enders on top.

Soon I will go and get boxes 3 and 4 and then walk them home. At that point, the beer gets cracked, and so do the rolls.

I believe I will do the bender box last. But, I will inspect boxes 3 and 4 for enders before opening any rolls.

Of course, the last box I had with 2 Benders, only had those 2 Bens. I hope to beat that today with some hidden Bens. Wish me luck!

I went by the same banks I had good luck at last week, but no luck today. I then went to another town, where I've never gotten anything decent. I thought maybe things have changed. The first four or five banks were skunks, so I almost went home. I went to one more bank, though. A teller there had $50 in CWRs. I thought maybe it was a dump, but I took them anyway.

I still have 2 boxes left from yesterday and 2 from tonight to go through.

My streak of skunk boxes finally ended after a total of 8 consecutive skunk boxes. I picked up 4 boxes Thursday, first one was box number 8 of my skunk streak. Box 2 yielded (1) 40%, not a great box, but at least it wasn't a skunk. As soon as I opened box 3 I knew it was going to be a good one, there were probably at least 10 of those white beauties staring me in the face. Now, everyone hold on to your seat, box 3 was my best ever and was definitely a gift from GOD!! It yielded, are you ready for this, (141) 40%, (14) 1965, (26) 1966, (69) 1967, (26) 1968, and (6) 1969. On top of the (141) 40% there were (22) 90%, (7) 1943 Walking Liberty, (1) 1953, (1) 1954, (1) 1960, (9) 1963 Franklin's and (3) 1964 Kennedy's. Since I joined the forum a few weeks ago I've been reading this thread from the beginning and have seen and heard of boxes like this, but never expected to actually find one myself. Box #4 wasn't near as good as box 3, but was still a pretty nice box with (9) 40%, (1) 1965, (4) 1967, (3) 1968, and (1) 1969, there were also (2) 90%, both 1964 Kennedy's. Boxes 3 and 4 came from the same bank and believe it or not, this was the first time I'd ever got boxes from this bank.

My wife and I went shopping and out for dinner Friday so I decided to spread a few of the rejected halves around. I took $1070 to a couple of out of town banks, spent about $80. worth of rolled halves at the grocery store, $40 worth at the gas station, $20 worth at the self checkout in Walmart and left the waitress $5. worth of halves for her tip. The girl at the grocery store and the waitress both were younger girls and both said "this is cool" when they received them. The girl at the grocery store may have never seen a half dollar before because, she asked if they were dollars. The waitress said she wouldn't forget this tip for a long time. I have a few very rough, worn Ikes that I may take next time we go to that restaurant and leave her another tip worth remembering. She'll soon get to know me as " the man with the funny money". Boxes like this are when I wish I had a camera that would get good pictures of the coins and I knew how to post them to the forum. Wishing everyone good luck on the hunt!!
