I went to one of my old hunting areas with a lot of banks, and I think there's another hunter there. One lady says a guy dumps halves once a week, and I'd be welcome to them.  Just a few of the other banks even had halves. I found a coin counter at a store, and they sold me $89 in halves. One '64 and a '66. Not bad, but then I found a '44 Australian penny and '62 UK penny in the bag!  Edited by CPC24

I upped my order from 4 boxes up to 6 boxes today looking for the monster box that is one the loose. 1 Franklin, a gold plated, and a couple of NIFC. Hopefully the 6 boxes coming on Thursday are better.   |

Did one box of halves yesterday and the only thing I found was a 2002-d NIFC. Very few nice looking coins on the whole box.

Got 2 more boxes yesterday, only thing worth mentioning were (9) 2002-date NIFC, one with a blister in the laminate and one roll had 20 halves and an extra Canadian Olympic quarter rolled with the halves. My last 5 boxes have skunked me on silver, withdrawals are terrible. Got 4 more Brinks boxes coming today from a different bank, then 2 more Fed boxes from another bank Thursday. Hopefully I can strike silver in these next 6 boxes. This is my longest streak without getting silver since I started roll searching halves around Nov. 2014. Last 5 boxes have also had lots of coins marked J with a sharpie so I must be getting a lot of someones else dumped coins.

4 boxes today 2 skunked and 2 boxes produced SILVER,  I pulled 1-90%er a 64D, and 5-40%ers, 1-66, 1-67, 1-68 and 2-69's, I also pulled 1-74D DDO, 1-74S Clad Proof and a 2002S Clad Proof.  "LOVE THE HUNT!"

I was going through my clads today and found a 1987-P in AU. According to the Red Book, these were a low mintage. Is it worth keeping? |

I've kept the 1987's I've found, but you should decide what you like, and keep what you like.

CPC24 I keep my 87P as well, When you look at coin collecting coins in low mintage are more sought after, but I do think in 2087 this coins value will increase beyond $12.00 at MS-65. lol I am putting a collection for my grandkids they may benefit from my madness. Plus if they ever choose to change whom is on the half dollar then the value may increase. I collect because I really love the older coins and currency most are way out of my price range. I enjoy the heck out of this hobby. Plus the old currency is pure art. If you can afford it and have the space I say keep what you really like.

I consider the '87 to be the most desirable of the clad, non-proof, non-commemorative NIFC halves. Since they stand reasonably alone (16 years of circulating coins before and 14 years after) they were intensively sought by half collectors. 2002-2015 halves are not as hard to find since people often buy them direct from the mint in bulk to cherry pick the MS68-70 coins to slab, and spend the rest. That wasn't a worthwhile venture in 1987, so very few ever ended up in circulation.
