I have had several ANACS coins that were undergraded in the past.
I sent in a key date Morgan and it was graded by them at AU50. Sent to NGC for 2nd opinion and was upgraded to AU58, sold for an extra $235.
I'll stick to NGC from now on, they have always graded at level I expect to get on my submissions.

Bishftl, are these coins you pulled from circulation? If so those are wonderful. I have never pulled anything that nice. I also have never purchased a coin graded by ANACS, Maybe I will double think that, If they are under grading coins just might be a better value. Maybe it was graded on a Monday or Friday. I have compared some PCGS coins and it appears some of my lower grades look better than some of my higher grades.

I have searched and researched, compared graded coins and used photograde online, spent hours upon hours trying to figure out if a coin is worth the trouble/money to submit. it is nearly impossible to determine a coins possible grade by photos alone. the 1994 below graded MS66 by NGC for some reason, and it is a horrible coin. Compare it to the 1968d I just got back that graded the same. Tell me the '68 isn't in better condition than the '94. If the '68 graded one higher it's value would skyrocket from around $90 to $1800.   |

Well box #3 for my new searching routine... One 1967 and 4 NIFC. The '67 was in the first roll so I was excited but no other silver. Well one is better than none

Maybe I'm wrong, but the '94 looks like it has a better strike than the '68 in the portrait area, though the edges are worn a lot for a MS66, and it does have a lot more marks in the field than the '68. I can see more detail in the hair and the ear of the '94. Did they do some die work on those details over the years? Also, how about the reverses? Anything of note there?

Older people who were able to pick it from circulation and saved it way back in the day. Where are all of those people retired to? Florida and Arizona. So when they pass and the coins get dumped at the bank by family members cleaning out their house they stay in the region. I propose a test for Arby to prove my theory: Get 10 boxes of dimes and 10 boxes of quarters and report back on your silver finds. For me I average 1 silver half per box. For dimes and quarters it is 1 per every 2 boxes. Arby seems to pull 10X what I find so if my theory is correct he should also find quite a few silver quarters and dimes. |

I'm located in L.A. and am finding alot of silver. I'm going through approx 20K a week since the beginning of the year. 2014 was my biggest year to date, 1.6M (I started hunting in 2010)and it burned me out. I spent every day a minimum of 2 to 3 hours a day hunting and dumping and with the price of silver so low - I didn't/couldn't sell any of it. I ended up trading the 90% for ASE's and gold and am waiting for the price of silver/gold to go up. Here is what I found last week. I'm happy to be doing this and love reading how everyone is finding stuff.  Edited by mtldealer
