I have just reviewed the last two weeks, I have been out of town and Wow, there have been some great finds. Love seeing all the silver! I sure hope my banks remembered I am back in town and will have my orders ready for me next week. I think I will make some phone calls Monday to make sure the orders get in. "LOVE THE HUNT!"

Any of you sell off your 40%ers? If so how much above spot do you sell them for? What is fair?
Thanks.

Carloscoria, I hold onto mine for now since silver is lower but I would assume since the melt price is about $2.50 per 40%, I would sell em for between $3-3.50. Plus for me CRHing, I find em for .50 so 2-3 bucks for each in profit is nice. :)

I have never sold a coin. However, I did trade a significant quantity of 90% and 40% JFKs with a dealer. I used the trade to fill most of the holes in my Franklin half dollar album. I did not keep accurate records back then, but the trade was basically giving melt value against retail prices. He usually gave a good discount, so I assume that lack of discount provided the cushion he needed.

I have sold 40% in the past to raise funds for peace/Morgan's/ASE
Or for hole-fillers in other denominations
Holding onto what I have now though

I'll give you a buyer's perspective. When I was putting together JFK booklets for each of my 3 kids I paid anywhere from 1-22 % over melt price at the time based on quantity, quality, and the number of 1965's in the mix.

Dealers pay below spot for 40% because it cost more to melt and process than 90%. You can get a little more on ebaybut after ebay & Paypal fees you will not make much more.

You think you can sell 40% Kennedy half dollars for for $1 over spot? Tell me where please! I have dealers willing to sell >ME< any or all of their 40% halves for spot. Honestly, they're nice to find for face value, but I'd never pay for one above melt. I don't/won't collect them Just my personal opinion on that matter.

I went in to remind one of my banks I need to order for Thursday and they told me they had 4 that someone else ordered and did't pickup. So I will get search an extra 4 boxes this week. I pulled silver out of 3 of the 4 boxes, I ended up with 2-90%ers and 9-40%ers, 2-64D, 2-65, 3-66, 1-67, 2-68 and 1-69. 6-Clad proofs, 3 of them very ugly, 1-73S, 2-77S, 1-79S, 1-81S, and 1-05S. I also pulled 1-82P No FG The real deal!, 1982 Medio-Balboa, 72 Counterstamp (with the number 35) on the Obverse, 1 GEM 89P, and 11 NIFC. So my first 4 boxes after taking two weeks off wasn't too bad. I hope you all have the best of luck searching, Enjoy the pics. 'LOVE THE HUNT!"] .
