Thanks for the shout out, as others have said, you can remove the markings easily with a Q tip and some acetone /rubbing alcohol. Keep on hunting!

Stats from the 26 boxes and $80 loose I looked through the last 10 days:
90% = 0 40% = 12 NIFC = 47 1987 = 2 Proofs = 5 Polished or plated = 3 1982 no FG = 1 1972 obverse grease error = 1
Note: I also looked for 1974D DDOs, but found none.
I estimate I spent about 1 hr/box including driving to/from banks and looking through the boxes, which is equivalent to 26 hours. I found roughly $24 worth of silver as well as perhaps $10 worth of collectables for a total of $34 in "profit". If I had instead worked a minimum wage job at $8.75/hour I would have earned $227.50 before taxes, so perhaps $170 after taxes. Let this be a lesson to those of you considering looking through boxes of halves for "profit". For most folks it will not pay as well as a minimum wage job!
Like arby says, you must instead love the hunt! ;)

Excellent statement regrading profit versus fun. Nice finds, by the way.

Not enough profit in it to quit your day job!! Last several weeks I haven't even been getting enough to pay for the gas to pick up coins and dump them, much less the time I have invested in searching.

Four boxes this evening and 2 skunks, I just went over 2000, 40%ers today since I start searching, my first full bag $1000.00 face value of 40%ers I also pulled another 76S Silver Proof, that is always cool. total haul for tonight, 1-90%er a 64, 3-65, 2-66, 4-67, 1-68, 5-69 and 1-76S. It sucks silver is under $15 an ounce, I was hoping it wouldn't do that. hope it doesn't drop too much more for too long. Enjoy the pics. Enders are always nice had four in this haul, missed one until I opened it. Silver Proof! A Nice 64 Kennedy!

I had no where near as good of luck as arby96 had but my most recent box produced a 1987 P half which I needed. There were also 4 NIFC's and a token for a drink in a town 30 miles away.

berto, Do you live close to the Denver area? I live in Oklahoma. I'm always looking for statistics with people looking for the 1974d DDO. I know Arby finds a lot but my find rate was ridiculous. I didn't count them but I probably found them in 8 out of 10 boxes and averaged 2 or 3 per box. I began throwing the the lower grade ones back in to circulation. I often wonder if someone in my area dumped a big collection of the DDO's or if they are just super common. BTW, If anyone knows a national or local coin shop willing to buy them in large quantities, please let me know. OO

The bottom has dropped out of the 1987 P & D JFK halves due I think to all the NIFC coins from 2002-present, with many at lower mintage than the 1987. I can pick up the 87 now at shows for 4-6x face value ($2-3) and the 1987 US Mint set has plunged to an all-time low.

Okay, despite my pledge to walk away from half dollar CRHing, I ordered six boxes from my local bank. The teller said they could be in as early as tomorrow. I promise if I get skunked on all six, I am done for good, but we will see what tomorrow brings! I will let you know what comes of the hunt.
