Quote: 7 boxes today 4,40% & 1,90% a 1960D Benny 2 of the boxes were someone's dump over half the coins were marked with the same mark. Get 8 more boxes tomorrow hoping for better results.
Best of luck to all. Trapper, what marks were you getting in that quantity? I've gotten some painted before but not half a box's worth.

@Trapper:
Congratulations on a great haul from a teller! A couple of weeks ago I got 12 halves from a teller, and 7 of them were silver (all 40%), my best ratio ever, and more silver than from the usual box. But yours greatly tops that.
By the way, what does one do with all the 40% silver pieces? I have been building up some, and many are not in great condition. Is there a market for these? In any case I would not want to sell them at the current market price of silver and so am happy to keep accumulating them. But I am curious about how much of a discount relative to silver value (something like $2.00-2.25) they would sell for as compared with 90% silver halves which presumably are much easier and cheaper to melt. Any thoughts?

Quote: I ask the teller at a dump bank you have any halves. I have never found any at this bank before. She said yes, I have $5.00. I seen the glint of silver on the end of the stack she was holding. I said I'll take them. Gave her 5 bucks and stuck them in my pocket. I never check them in front of the teller. This is the most 90% I've ever bought from a teller in one shot 9,90% and 1 40,% Good hit 10 coins, 10 pieces of silver. $49.48 worth at current spot.

Today I snatched my first ever Walker from a teller find. This was a fairly young man about my age and being from a generation long after silver was gone from circulation, had this one half. Seeing the walking reverse instantly gladly make me say yes (this is one of my dump banks). I also hunted $480 of machine rolled silver from another bank and found another 90% (a 1961 Frankie), 2 1966, 2 1967, a 1968-D, a 1969-D, and 3 NIFC, with the 2012-P new to my NIFC collection (I have all P & D's from 2002-2006 and from 2008-2012). This comes after my last hunt two weeks ago where I found a 1964, 5 40%, 23 wheaties including VG 1918, and six silver dimes which unfortunately occurred when I struck a deer right before I got home and took out my left front headlight. Still, two consecutive hunts with at least $1 in 90% silver is never a bad thing. With regards to lower silver, I don't expect it below about $8 due to of course inflation. Still, this should improve hunting finds since when silver ran up in the late '00s, I noticed a sharp decline in silver finds. I also hope gold follows suit to say the $600-$800 range so I can splurge on my first $10 Indian and $20 coin.

Too bad about the headlight (and the deer), but at least there was some silver.

@ Yalamesexa Quote: I don't expect it below about $8 due to of course inflation I do NOT predict $4 silver Nor would I be surprised. Even IF AU (or) AG does go WAY up (due to inflation or something else) --- Does any one remember that GOLD was FROZEN. If THAT happens again -- I predict SILVER will go the way as AU PMs would be a way to AVOID taxes. The ONLY Gold one could LEGALLY own back then was in very small amounts like a wedding ring. However if you had the MONEY you could place the HOPE DIAMOND in your ladies ring.

The last two weeks have been the best two weeks I've had searching halves and what happens today when I go into my local branch.......they had a new guy ordering and he forgot to order my 4 boxes. Waiting another week is going to be very hard with the streak I have been on.
