What is a MAD?

Misaligned die. On one side (usually the obverse) it looks like an off center strike, while the reverse looks normal. It happens when the dies are not properly aligned during striking, hence the name. MAD coins are very common and only carry a premium when part of the design falls off the coin. On extreme MAD errors, the area on the reverse corresponding to the unstruck area on the obverse will show weakness in the strike.

@Berto, glad to hear your luck has changed. Just goes to show if you search long enough something will eventually show up. Congrats on the silver and the 2015's.
I haven't posted my finds in the last couple weeks, but will try to get it done in the next couple days. I still have one box to search from last weeks boxes and will update when it's finished and I get a total for the week. I will go ahead and say, but also leave everyone in suspense, I've been VERY PLEASANTLY SURPRISED so far with the boxes from last week.

Ok so not finished with the box yet, but today I had to run unexpectedly to one of my branches and while I was there I asked (like I always do) if they have any half dollars. So out of the $2 dollars worth one was a 1967 40%er!! I'll take it! (Stopped my skunk streak too)

Allfome, lovely pictures, Thanks for sharing. I haven't come across a MAD coin yet, at least not one that was noticeable. December has been one of my best months, sure hope it will be a good month this year. Wishing you all the best.

As promised here's my update for the last 2 weeks. Week before last wasn't anything to write home about. Out of 6 boxes, I got 1 40% silver a 1969D, still 1 is better than none!! 2 clad proofs a 1977S and a 2001S, a crusty 1987P and a 1982 no FG.
Last weeks 6 boxes is when it gets exciting 86 pieces of silver. I got 58 90%, 11 Walking Liberty, 32 Franklin, and 15 Kennedy. The date break down of the 90% goes 1-1935P, 1-1939D, 4-1942D, 1-1942P 1-1942S, 1-1943P, 1-1945P, 1-1945D, 1-1946P, 4-1952D, 2-1953D, 2-1954D, 2 1957D, 1-1957P, 1-1959D, 3-1961D, 2-1961P, 5-1962D, 2-1962P and 5 1963D, 14-1964P and 1-1964D. There were also 28 40% 3-1965, 4-1966, 11-1967, 8-1968D, 2-1969D. There were 2 clad proofs, 1-1992S, 1-2005S, 2-1987P NIFC, 13 2002-date NIFC, 1-2002D, 2-2003D, 1-2004P, 2-2005P, 1 2006D, 1-2007P, 1-2008D, 2-2010D, 1-2010P and 1 2011P. Last week was 5 firsts for me, the first time I'd got over 50 90% in a week, the first time I broke 30 Franklins in a single week, the first time I broke 10 Walking Liberty in a single week, the first time I ever got more 90% than 40% in a week and I broke my first 100 oz of silver from coin roll hunting half dollars. It took about 13 months to break 100oz. Ain't God good?!!

RCook & Allfome, amazing finds! RCook, in just 6 boxes you got about 25 oz of silver. Incredible! That's about $308.68 net profit if you subtract face.

Quote: RCook, in just 6 boxes you got about 25 oz of silver. Incredible! That's about $308.68 net profit if you subtract face. The 308.68 is net profit at today's prices, but if I ever sell it will a lot more than that!! I probably wouldn't even consider selling for less than $30-35 an oz. I don't plan to sell anytime in the near future if ever. When I have grandchildren if they're interested in coins I'll probably pass them on to them. Most of the silver came from 2 boxes, but there was a little in each of the other 4 boxes. This was my 2nd best week I've had since I started roll searching halves. The best week was in January 2015, if I'd got one more 40% that week I'd have had 31 oz of silver that week. I love weeks when the silver is measured in pounds instead of ounces or fraction of ounces. Maybe there will be more good weeks of silver in the next couple months from people dumping collections for holiday money. I was looking for something to do tonight and since I had an extra half dollar Dansco I'd bought cheap on ebay, I decided to go through my proofs from circulation and put together what I could of a set of Kennedy proofs from circulation. Was able to put together a full set except 1964, 1965, 1966, 1967, 1968, 1969, 1970, 1991, 2014, 2015. No silver proofs. Most of the proofs were pretty nice since most years I had several to choose from, but there were a few years that I only had 1 of, I'll upgrade them as I get better ones.

Better than nothing, at least it broke the skunk streak. You could say it killed the skunk.
