There's a couple of older tellers around here that remember when silver used to circulate and needless to say I don't get much silver from them! Although I do get some from the other tellers at the same bank.

Hit the banks that are full of 19 year old tellers - many of them don't even know that silver used to be in coins.

Gothic, LOL on those young tellers! But, how true!

Tell y'all the truth, though, I'm starting to forget what silver looks like, too. But we'll get back on track. Just have to figure some new angles/approaches.

Just curious for you guys who order boxes, how do you get rid of your dumps? I have been using a coin machine at a local bank but I was informed that my dumping was unacceptable for their machine.

I opened my girls an account at BB&T and was up front with the lady. I told her the reason why I was opening accounts was because of the coin machine and if they had any problems with me using it...alot. She had no problem with it. It is a smaller band in town, so maybe they might be more accommodating. My box should be ordered on Mon. I am pretty excited.

Curious, what part of the country you have BB&T's that have coins machines. All the ones around where I live do not have them.

I am thinking about getting back into this. Have not done it in a few months since I had to use the funds to make a down payment on a house, but now the $ reserves are back and I think I will give it a whirl. I will probably get to know these tellers at my new banks pretty well :)

1 Box total today

1- 1942P Walker
2-67's

Not good at all!

Getting one more box tomorrow- I'm cutting back to only 2 boxes a week as my local banks are also starting to complain about the volume through their coin machines and now are charging service fee's for bulk usage.

None of the BB&T's I've seen in North Carolina have Coinstar. I opened an account with a local RBC because they do have one (come to find out it's the only one around). I just reroll the halves and turn them in at BB&T. The Coinstar has been seeing alot of nickels though!

It's getting worse and worse to get rid of these things!

My local banks will order as many boxes as you want, but the one's that do not have a coin counting machine will not take back any wrapped halves!

The one's that have coin counting machines will make you unwrap the halves and dump them in loose and if its over $100.00 your're going to get hit with service fees of $5.00 per transaction plus .4% of the dollar volume- so if I dump lets say 2 boxes it's going to cost me $5.00 plus $4.00- $9.00 every week just to get rid of 2 boxes & if you keep getting a lousy return per box, then it's not worth it!

I'll probably go back to just Lincolns and Jefferson roll/bag searching again. :(

In my area I do not have banks that have coin counting machines, so I re wrap all my coins, but I don't get but maybe a hundred at the most so my dump banks haven't said anything yet.
I feel for you Chuckster, I know none of us wants it to end, but maybe still just ask for customer rolls now and then. Twangator seem to do well with fed rolls on a more regular basis, but for me customer rolls ( or loose)yield better on the whole.
Hey eddiespin, dont give up!, go for a road trip like Motos. I really think small towns are the way to go because if customers bring rolls to the banks in little towns, they probably hang on to them longer because it takes a while to add up before they ship them out. I believe there are more older people in these towns that have been saving for a long time, but in this economy are sadly having to dig in their piggy banks to cash in. Not that we are vultures waiting for this, but it is a fact and kind of like "the circle of life". As for your 9 boxes, wow, that is a dry spell of the worst! but maybe just relax and take a trip, remember this is fun and anything we find, we are up! I do believe yours is coming!
