Its been a long weekend. Busted thru my purchase late Friday night, purchased new coin doesn't sit long without me diving in. On the agenda this week, 2 boxes on Tuesday, 2 on Friday and making a road trip hoping people "cashed" in their coin for the big shopping day!

I have a feeling the boxes will be picking up from now through January because of the holidays, recession + the need to spend = old jars of coins being dumped. A resipe for roll hunting success. I suppose ill order two boxes a week from now on till january.

XavierofGreen, I would suspect the same. I expect the coin counters at banks to get real busy this next couple of weeks. I'm uping my box count each week to 4...

I've seen larger lots on ebay selling for over 4X face. Unfortunately, " ebay & PayPig" will live up to their nicknames!

You can always try to sell them here for 4X face, if you have enough of them maybe you can offer free shipping (flat rate) and still come out better than selling through your local dealer or ebay.

I agree with ratman 4762 regarding ebay's & Pay-pals fee's - They are going to get their pound of flesh, BUT:

If you can't get any buyers here on the CCF(IMHO) I'd go ebay before any coin dealer only offering you 2&1/4 X Face

I just recently sold 10 rolls (200) of 40%er's and after paying E-Bay & Pay-Pal fees I still got a little over 4&1/2 X Face per coin as a profit!

I personally would never sell to a local coin dealer at only 2&1/4X face.

General Information.

* NY SPOT Silver closed today 11/23/2009 at $18.78 per ozt.

40%ers have .1479 .ozt of Silver per coin equals $2.77 per coin.

$2.77 divided by .50cent = 5.54 X face value.*

My local dealer told me he will only pay 2.5x face because no one wants to buy the 40%s from him. He said that when people come in wanting to purchase silver, they want either bars or 90% coin in bulk. I can understand that, but I'm sure he's turning around and making money on it somehow.

Gothic Florin:

He is definitely making money on it- he is probably accumulating at that low price then selling on ebay also!

If it were me, I would not sell them to him and instead try here on the CCF or ebay like I did.

Even after E-Bays/Pay-Pal's fees, you are going to get more than 2&1/2 X face.

Check out all of the E-Bay auctions for 40%er's.

They are selling for more than 2.5X face.

* You should play devil's advocate with him- ask him how much he wants for each 40% er.See if he will sell them to you for the same 2.5X Face.

I'd be shocked if that's what he is selling them at.

Right now I'd buy every one of the 40%er's he has at $1.25 each
and turn around and make a nice profit on E-Bay!
*I got $2.46 per coin)
