Picked up a bag off the coin counter for $500. They wanted to make sure that I would return what isn't used as they want to roll the coin for the vault, no problem. (note to self, dont buy rolled 1/2s from this bank) However they did take my name and number for when the counter bag is full and they would sell it to me. So from the bag I got, 2 68's and 1 69 and (drum roll) my first Benny! a 1959.

2 boxes from Wells waits for me tomorrow...

Strange. Most banks are glad to get rid of them via customers so they don't have to ship them out (which costs them money). My guess is you have other roll hunters frequenting that bank. Anyway, I would roll them myself and mark the rolls.

Got a nice teller tray score yesterday. Teller handed me two Morgans and a Peace dollar a worn out Buffalo, a 69 Kennedy and a 1866 Three Cent coin (nickel). She charged me a dime for the three center - I tried to get a nice photo of it but just too much glare...

Ratman4762 - the reason for them wanting the 1/2's back is because they dont want to order a box from the fed as it must cost them a little $$ to do so. I wiped out their stash that they had in the vault and occasionally they have customers of the bank ask for them, hence the reason for them wanting to roll what they get. I am somewhat excited that they will let me know when they have full counter bags. Now if I am getting called twice a week or more, then obviously I'm working some dump from someone else. We will see what happens....

Fellow members, what is the best we to get a quality photo of a coin so I can post? I have stumbled across a unique 1/2 with a counterstamp that I would like to share.

If it's just a cs, you're not looking for a grade, why don't you just scan it in? That's the easiest, quickest way.

I'm off this week and my little guy had a half-day yesterday (hey, that's another pun ) so I picked him up from school and we went to McDonald's then hit the road, so to speak. It was pretty productive. We hit about six banks and got six 40%s. At one bank, though, we're standing in line, and in the line right next to us, a gal pulls out seven silver dollars from her purse and requests singles for them. My eyes popped out of my head when I saw that. The teller immediately reaches into her register, pulls out seven crisp dollar bills, rifles them off onto the counter, pushes them toward the gal, takes the coin, and is about to put them into her drawer, when our teller sees that, and says, "I'll take them." So, they make the teller-exchange, and my teller puts them into her drawer. This all happened within a matter of just a few seconds. We were the next in line for our teller. I just nudged Joey, and said "Let's get the heck out of here." Soooooo close. And yet, so far...

Chuckster, I'm jealous. You give me hope that there is still treasure out there in Fed Boxes...

My 2 Fed boxes from Wells Fargo produced 1 '93 proof. The other box was a skunk, my first one. :(

Picked up $200 worth of bank rolled halves. First roll, 1 64. Also from this batch came a stunning '87 proof a '65 and '68.

Doing my first 1/2 day road trip on Friday. Anxious to see what this produces...

Have a great Thanksgiving with family and friends...

Wow, great finds Chuckster and Maine Jim! There are certainly some "different" coins appearing now as XOG was referring to about this time of year and people bringing in their collection as Eddispin just witnessed ( you'll get 'er next time Eddie!). Makes it exciting! Anyway I want to wish all of you Happy Thanksgiving and Happy Hunting!!
