Good finds, aristarchus123...

My box didn't come in today either, skibdib - won't be in until next Wednesday so I sauntered into my local coin shop and and spent it on "junk silver"... got some nice stuff!

March started off much better than February ended. I found 16 pieces of silver this week and was my best week in a while, 13 were 40%, 3 were 90% with one of them being a 1953D Franklin. Other finds included 5 clad proofs, 1 1982 no FG, and 1 1974D DDO. The 2 boxes from one of my banks had a different stamp number than the ones I've been getting there for the past several months and produced more silver, 8 40% and 2 90%. The boxes this week had the same number stamped on the box as when I first started getting boxes from that bank about two years ago. They often produced a decent amount of silver so I'm hoping I'll be back on this box number for at least the next several months. 2017 YTD silver 23.4223 troy oz.

Out of curiosity, what are your total finds by year and mint on the 2002-2016 NIFCs, RCook? I'm trying to figure out which ones are hardest to find. So far the 2008-D (2), 2013-D (2), and 2016-P (0) have been the hardest to find out here on the West coast. The 2004-P (3), 2011-P (3), and 2014-D (3) have also been challenging. Interestingly, the most common ones for me have been the 2009-P (29) and 2009-D (20) coins.

Sorry I don't have this information. I don't keep records of my finds per year except for trying to update here weekly about my YTD silver finds. As best as I can remember though 2013 is one of the years that I've found the least of. I have lots of both mint 2014's as I had a week last year where there was a box loaded with 2014's and 2015's. Sometime when I have the time and think of it I'll try to separate them by yr./mm and post the totals of each. Last week in 6 boxes I found 200 2002-date NIFC. If I recall correctly most of them were either 2009 and 2014. I've found a few of each mint 2016, but thus far they've been pretty scarce.

8 boxes from Friday.

A lot of rolls were short including a few that only had $9 in them.

6 40%ers, a 1964, a Franklin, a proof, and a rolls worth of NIFC.

Picked up a box from my emergency bank on Saturday. only found a 1964.

Thanks Arby. My total for the year is decent so far, I had a couple of really good weeks right at the first of the year. I'm like you if people are going to cash in silver at face value I hope to be one of the lucky ones to find it. It amazes me that anyone can look at coins that are no longer produced (Seated Liberty, Barber, Walking Liberty, Franklin) and have no idea they're worth more than face value. Since I've started searching halves and spending some of the dumps in stores I've ran across a few younger workers who say they've never seen a half dollar. One night when my wife and I went out to eat I left a tip of $5., all in half dollars, the waitress said that was a tip she wouldn't forget for a while. Call me old but I remember when Franklin halves circulated regularly. The bank that I banked with when I lived in NC got and distributed half dollars to customers at least till the late eighties or early nineties. I'd get one nearly every week when I cashed my payroll check.

I hate when that happens, doesn't take long to eat up any silver profits.

John77, of the "older" NIFCs, I've found fewest 2003 and 2013 in my searches. I've no idea why those 2 years have been more difficult to find.

HH everyone

RCook, back in 1966 a young boy came to school and gave all his friends Ben Franklin half dollars, I took mine to the local candy store and purchased 50 pieces of candy with them, I saved one for later. Well later that week his mother came to school and tried to get them back, I don't believe she was able to get any back, Our local candy store owner got most of them. LOL, That is the main reason Franklins are my favorite halves. One of my cool childhood memories.

We all (may) have done "things" with a Benny

When I was a youngster ~ I repeatedly threw a Benny on the cement. Mom caught me ~ No more of that for me

Mom probably got her 50c worth out of his rear end.

Just got finished with today's boxes. They yielded 20 pieces of silver. 3-90% 1 of which was a 1953D. And 17 40%. 2 of which was a 1968s and 1969s silver proof. Good luck everyone

Hit a dry patch with the silver this past week, but 1 of the boxes was a bit interesting:
Box 1: 2 NIFC
Box 2: 5 Clad Proof and 5 NIFC

2 boxes from yesterday.

Box 1 had some good stuff in it. 2 Ellis Island proofs, a 1964, 2 40%ers, 2 stickered coins, a toned 1990 proof, 1 lowball 1976, and 2 rolls worth of NIFC including 2 2015.

Box 2 skunked.
