My first four boxes for the week yielded me 7 pieces of silver, I searched them early this morning, just getting around to posting. I pulled 1-61D Benny, 1-65, 2-66, 1-67 and 2-68. I did pick up another 4 boxes but won't get to them until the morning. Nice start to the week. Wishing you all the best. John77 I mark the NIFC coins because they are easy to find when checking edges only, I only mark the ones that won't pass the AU-BU grade in my opinion. I am no expert by any means. 90% Alcohol is much better removing ink, much safer to deal with.

Nice finds Arby! Went through 4 boxes and found my first ever silver panama medio balboa: Box 1 skunk Box 2 - 2 40% Box 3 - 2 1964 Box 4 - 1 40%, 1 1964, 1 1966 40% silver medio balboa Panama coin I have found a few of the balboas in the past, but this is my first silver and it is in very good condition. Looking forward to four more boxes later this week. Happy hunting!

nice finds arby and SilverEagle! Every piece counts :-)
I would love to find a silver medio balboa. and a silver canadian half as well.
My March has started pretty poorly. 12 skunk boxes, and 12 boxes missed due to supply issues and/or delivery issues. Finally, yesterday I got my first silver halves of the month.
Box 1 had a 1945 walker. Box 2 had a 40% ender, and held 15 x 40%. Box 3 was a skunk with a different stamp #. Box 4 had 4 x 40% and a 2007s silver proof. Gotta love seeing that silver proof edge.
Good luck out there to all,

Awesome finds Skibdib and SilverEagle. Love the Silver Balboa, scoring a silver foreign coins is the best, can't loose money on that 50 cents. Cracked another 4 boxes from last night and only one skunk out of the bunch, One box had a marked ender of mine from last month and I pulled 2 bennies from that box. I ended up with 1-52D, 1-61D, 2-67, and 2-69's. 2-15's NIFC one of each Keepers. Not bad. I will crack my last four boxes for the week later. Wishing you all the best. Keep up the Hunt!!

Quote: 1,500 pages in this thread. Funny you should mention 1500 pages, I was just thinking the same thing. I think when I started posting to this thread it was slightly over 1100 pages. I wonder how many ounces of silver have been found in these 1500 pages? My favorite head teller confirmed yesterday that the bank is getting rid of their coin machine in two weeks and that she can still order me boxes of halves but won't be able to take my dumps. I guess I need to start shopping around and see if I can find a new dump bank.

Sorry to hear that RCook, Hope you find a nice friendly bank to work with, I started adding up all the silver coins since the start of this thread and haven't gotten close to completing it, LOL I just finished up my last four boxes for the week and ZERO! Skunks, The first two weeks this month have been awesome. Today I scored 1-64D, 1-65, 1-66, 3-67, 3-68, and 4-69, 1-GEM 87P, 1-88S Clad Proof, and 3-NCIF's. Very happy with this weeks haul, I hope you all have a wonderful weekend and much luck searching.

Quote: Also found three marked NIFCs - two are marked in blue sharpie, one is in black. I'm keeping them, of course. I'll get some acetone or use my sister's nail polish remover to get it off... makes me wonder why mark NIFCs in the first place if someone else is going to pull them from circulation? Doesn't that kind of defeat the whole purpose of marking the coins? Quote: The point I was making is NIFCs get pulled a lot more than stuff like 1971-D or 1976-D coins - NO ONE collects those due to the 300 million-ish mintages. When you mark one of these you could see it again. Lots of people collect NIFCs, so you're much less likely to see them again if you mark them. That defeats the purpose of marking the coins, doesn't it? If you think someone marking the NIFC half dollars with a permanent marker is bad, take a look at what started showing up in my boxes... BU (or thereabouts) post-2001 coins "marked" by gouges to the right of Kennedy's bust. When I found a single one in a box awhile back, I chalked it up to some kind of accidental damage--such as might be inflicted by a coin counter--but then I started finding more and more of them, all with identical scrape marks. The marks might be a little hard to see in these pictures, but you get the idea. Some of them could have been upgrades for my folder, if not for the damages. Like you said, there are literally hundreds of millions of beat-to-death, high-mintage half dollars out there whose collector value is nonexistent. I really wish that those would be a target of marking, rather than these... Needless to say, I've still been saving them, if only to throw a wrench into the plans of that particular coin roll hunter.

i started around page 1140, I too wish I had started earlier, of course ;-)
was a good week overall, though today was only ok with 5 x 40% out of 8 boxes. It was really yesterday and todays boxes. But, much better than a skunk, and it ended up being a good week with 26 pieces. Much improved over last week's zero pieces lol.
Good luck out there!
