I get 1 brinks box a week right now from BoA and I have to say, they suck compared to what other people are claiming from their boxes.

You nailed it-They are BAD!

I did one Brinks Box today- ZERO!- not even a NIFC!

I'm thru messing around with them, I got 6 more boxes coming in this week and they are all FED (Yellow & White- Wrappers).

Beginning next week, no more BRINKS!

Chuckster,
I dont think the FED handles coinage any more. Those yellow wrapped boxes are either from Loomis or another carrier. Perhaps Dunbar or Guarda. Seems that most coin machines deal with Brinks so I am sure a large volume of their halves are dumps from other silver hunters. I have heard a lot about how bad Brinks boxes can be but every once in a while I hear of a great score from boxes. I guess its just hit or miss. I found a bank that deals with Brinks around where I order but they wont ever order boxes for me, no matter which branch I go to. I have yet to deal with a Brinks box so far....

My mother of all boxes was from a brinks box, but I normally find about the same amount in silver from both types.

2 boxes today (black and white wrappers) I went through first box and got 1-90% and 2-40%. Will post 2nd box later. (this is only the 2nd box of 11 from this bank that had silver. I've done better with Brinks boxes. But it is just the matter of getting the right box at the right time. Another roll searcher got 2 boxes from my bank today (1st time he ever ordered them). I hope he dumps them somewhere else!

Did one box the other day and found my first 1970. I did a double take haha. Plus it was right next to my first walker :)

In all:
3-90% one 42 walker
8-40% one 70-D

my best box yet. But it was only my 8th box to date. I've got 6 boxes coming from 3 different banks this week.

also I found a 1976-s proof Eisenhower in a bag of 285 ikes. I thought that all that were minted in san francisco were 40% silver but I was let down when I did more research on it as it didn't look feel or sound silver :) but hey its still a proof! right?

It seems to me like there is a bit of a skunkfest going on here. I've only had 1 silver from the past 3 or so boxes. I've stopped by 7 banks in the past few days and I feel like I've received coy smiles when I've asked tellers for half dollars. I think more of them are catching onto the value of these and are hoarding them. I asked at one bank today and all the tellers said they didn't have any, yet the teller next to the one I asked was flipping a half dollar around on the desk. I could hear it was clad but suspect that he had some other stashed in his drawer.

Went to the bank yesterday and asked for a box of pennies. The teller did not have one for me. Not missing a beat I saw two half dollars in her tray and gave her a buck for them. She got a disappointed look and as she was handing them to me said "You have a good one there." 1963 D Franklin in circulated condition. Guess she had wanted to buy it and I swept it out from under her...... Sincerely, John Leckrone

AG CoinHunter;

Thanks for the info regarding the FED.

Guarda drops the coinage.
The Yellow and White wrappers are all from String & Son, Harrisburg PA

The monster box I hit on a few weeks ago was from one of these boxes and any other substantial silver finds was also from these boxes.

Just went through the 2nd of two boxes this evening. I found 1 40% (69-D) and 2007-D.
By the way, my bank gets their boxes from String and Son.

Just out of curiosity, has anyone's 40% silver finds included 1966?
This is the one 40% date (besides 70-D) that I have yet to find searching rolls and boxes. I have 3-4 examples of all other 40% dates plus 2 90% 64's.

Yes! They are harder to find than some of the others, actually the 1965 has been the hardest for me.
If you look at the mintage figures you can see why 1965 is the hardest to find. I've found almost 3 times as many 1964 as I have 1965. The 1965 and 1966 are much lower than 1967 because the mint was producing 90% silver halves (dated 1964) as well as 40% silver halves through 1965 into 1966.

1964 273,304,004
1964-D 156,205,446
1965 65,879,366
1966 108,984,932
1967 295,046,978
1968-D 246,951,930
1969-D 129,881,800

Yea, I get a lot of 66's. 65 is the tough date for me. Think I have found maybe a roll (20) out of almost 700 coins this year.

Stopped at bank that I am not a member of Monday afternoon and was able to get 4 rolls. The majority of the coins were bicentenial but I was able to pull 7 40% silver coins!
