Thanks, pan4au! This is actually my best half dollar find ever! The breakdown by date for posterity:
1953-D, 1954-D (2), 1958-D (2), 1961-D (2), 1962-D (2), 1963 (2), 1963-D (2), 1964-D, 1965 (2), 1968-D (3)

I've decided to get a little more proactive at asking my local banks for halves lately... two other banks had 7 loose halves but nothing worth saving...

Picked up two boxes yesterday and did one. Found a 1990-P no FG, 1980-P no FG and TWO 1972-D no FG's. The second one is worth grading so I'm sending it in shortly.

Well the skunk streak continues, 3 out of 4 boxes skunked, I had one 1964 Ender so I saved it for the last roll to open. Makes me feel better that I ended 4 boxes with the last roll having silver in it.
Bummer. At least you planned ahead by saving the ender.

Went to that same bank branch again where I found that Buffalo hoard a few weeks ago... 14 90%-ers including 13 Bens and 5 90%-ers, along with a lone 1977... Stoked!
Excellent!

Well my last 4 boxes for this week all skunks, that is a 13 box skunk week. I seem to be writing "ALL SKUNKS" much too often this year! I will be out of pocket next week, I might try to hit a couple of banks in San Diego next week. Wishing everyone a wonderful weekend. Hope you all score lots of silver. Until a week from now I will pop in to see how everyone else is doing next week and if I hit anything good in San Diego I might just pop in and share. Good Luck Everyone!

Did 1 box today. Nothing earth shattering: 3 - NIFC's, and 1 40% 1969. Hope everyone else has better luck!

Nice find there pan4au on the No FG. I sold a 1972 last year for over $900. Those command a premium

Hey Shotgung, I've read a few of your posts about the no FG halves.
Would you mind sharing what years you look at for the no FG?
What years are the easiest to find?
What years are hard to find?
What all years have you found?
Have you sold many for a decent profit?

Thanks for sharing!

Thanks guys.

John77-awesome roll! Ask for all the rolls of any denomination that customer turned in.

Arby- been where you are a time or two. Not fun but keep searching, silver will turn up soon.

Thought I was on to something in my second of two boxes from yesterday. First roll I found a franklin, third roll another franklin. I flipped the tenth roll over and there was a franklin ender. Finished with the below:

Thanks, Silver Eagle... and to answer your question, I have no idea what said customer turned in or when other than it was before 3 weeks ago... All I know that the teller I got these Halves from hadn't been at her teller window the past few weeks - they were in her drawer. They did go to the back for me when I found the Buffalo hoard a few weeks ago, and one more Buffalo roll emerged. I have bought several rolls of Dimes from there the past few weeks, but no old style rolls have shown up... and I've also seen the Quarters they have been giving out, and again, all modern looking CWR. Same thing for the Cents. None of the tellers there has a recollection. They have had tellers from other branches filling in a lot all year at that branch, so it is also possible that one of them actually took in the coins.

I'm very happy indeed. But still holding out hope for more from that branch. There are two branches of that bank in that city, and this one is not considered the "merchant" branch so they don't order coins as much as the other one. Ever since I had that crazy luck with the Coinstar 71 coin silver hoard right before Christmas, I have been running into all kinds of good stuff in terms of hoards. I had the semi-key date Jefferson hoard, two different Wheat cent hoards, and the aforementioned Buffalo hoard. Makes me wonder what is just around the corner!

Thanks for the questions Briton.
Would you mind sharing what years you look at for the no FG? - I've uploaded a picture of what to look for.
What years are the easiest to find? I'd say the 1982-P and 1972-D are the easiest. I went through a box last night and found a 1982-P No FG. Alot of 1977's were close but no cigar. Must show no signs of FG, AT ALL!
What years are hard to find? I'd say the are all equally hard to find.
What all years have you found? 1972-D MS62 (sold for $825) 1973-D AU58 (sold for $141) 1982-P MS64 (sold for $78). When I had the 1973 graded, it came back as missing designers initials, not "No FG". Didn't matter at the sale. Also found a 1990-P and 1980-P this week. If I can't sell on ebay, I'll send off for grading then auction.
Hope this helps out and good luck!
