I really need to start looking at my halves closer when I get my boxes... that's a lot of money there, shotgung. Congrats!

Given the interest and demand for the NO FG halves, it really makes we wonder WHY the 1990-D NO FS nickel gets next to no publicity. I'm sure if it was in the Cherrypicker's Guide or other publications, the demand for it would skyrocket. I see a lot of 1990-D nickels, of course, and I might find a "NO FS" about once every 250 coins... Which means only about 2.5 million or so were made - a number similar to the famous 1950-D.

Interesting statistics there John on the 1990-D's. I might have to keep my eye out for those when I do my boxes of nickels!
Demand on error coins always amazes me. I've found quite a few wounded eagle SAC's and thought they would be worth more than what I'm getting for them but it seems the demand isn't there for them. I would think the number made would be fairly low.

Hello everyone, I thought I wouldn't me making another post until next week, One never knows what will happen when one walks into a Bank to make a dump. Look at the surprise the Teller had for me!, 3-1921 Morgans, 2 of them Denver and one Pen. Also a 1885 Morgan P, 1-44D Walking Liberty, and 1-1926 Standing liberty. So Today most definitely made up for the poor silver score from halves this week.

Holy smokes Arby!, nice find there. Man, wish I could get that luck up here. I'm carrying a Ike in my wallet and when I visit a branch, I usually show them and ask if they have anything like that. Maybe I should do that w/ a Morgan! Congrats again

Arby-simply amazing finds! To find a 130 year old coin at the bank is rare, especially a silver dollar. I agree with you, it is shocking that these get turned in. It makes me wonder how many silver dollars are collecting dust in the various armored carrier vaults around the country. I'd say you more than made up for a slow half dollar week!

Bought a bag of half at my CU. 92.50 short. Called them up and they said they were only off by 2.50 Called the dump C/U and am waiting for a call back. Hope I can recoup some of my money.

And by the way. I found no keepers in that bag.

If you're buying bags of coins, always a good idea to bring a portable weighing scale with you just to be safe.

I think publicity has a lot to do with it. Several of the "NO FG" halves are listed in price guides, while the "wounded eagle" coins are not in any guides I've seen. Not to mention, the missing initials coins are a little more obvious.

Jefferson nickels have always kind of been like the stepsister in this hobby. It is only recently that they've started getting some respect. Hopefully, one of these days the 1990-D No FS will FINALLY get in the CherryPicker's Guide.
