i got SoCal.. lol.

well, I would go with S&S... although I have gotten many searched halves in them b/c I got a lot of marker and nail polish with initials on the faces and edges of the coins. but I have also found 5 40% 1 proof and 2 nifc.. its wierd. somehow S&S and brinks as well get their halves from dumps and other sources..?

eddiespin....
... .... ....

Sammy "The Eaglefoot Grav'vano" offers his service, his loyalty, his silver cut, and anything else asked, as mere gifts to the father Eddie Corleone !

Sub-boss Grav'vanno: "I went to the police, like a good American. These two boys were brought to trial. The judge sentenced them to three years in prison, and suspended the sentence. Suspended sentence! They went free that very day! I stood in the courtroom like a fool, and those two, they smiled at me. Then I said to my wife, "For justice, we must go to Eddie Corleone."
Eddie Corleone: "Why did you go to the police? Why didn't you come to me first?"
Sub-boss Grav'vanno: "What do you want of me? Tell me anything. But do what I beg you to do. Please Mr. Corleone ! Stop these Silver hunters from trespassing on the Family's territory ! .....PLEASE !"

........In "Westerns", I've not met my match as far as "quotes" go.....but in general....."THAT" was good Eddie ! ......

Thanks for the advice Chuckster 125. Originally when I started I would check out every coin for silver. But it would take a lot of time. With the amount of boxes I get and lack of time it makes it harder but I should check every coin. I know here are NIFC and proofs but I am not too familiar with the error coins. I recently learned about the 1982-p no intial and the 1974-d DDO but what other "common" errors to look for? And is there a certain website that shows close up pictures of the coins on how to identify them.

Thanks

anyone else with any input on my getting a bag of halves rather than a box when I order? I'm trying to decide for sure if I should do it again. I didn't get totally skunked....but it wasn't great either.

CoinMania:
Here is Found-in-Rolls (CCF Member)Bill O'Rouke's Ask About Coins site.

Scroll down to the Kennedy halfs for pics of DDO'S/DDR'S etc.

http://askaboutcoins.com/category/die-varieties/

*I found a 1972P DDO just about a few days after I read Bill's info! I had no idea that they even existed as I was only looking for the obvious 74D DDO for months and no even looking at any 1972P's.

afcop13: I'd give buying a bag one more shot, boxes have not been so great,at least by me,lately!

2 Box total today:

1- 52P Franklin
4- 40%er's.

Chuckster - I think I will take Southern NJ also. I will also start a 'waste disposal' company and a butcher's shop.

AFCOP13: In my opinion, you are rolling the dice either way - you will prob always be getting a small amount of coins at least that have been searched, but what you are hoping for is to find someone's dump of an old cache/accumulation of silver. And that can happen irregardless of what you are searching - you could be getting a bag thaqt was just dump for any reason or the bag that was dumped last month and has now been recycled and rolled

Did my first 2 boxes (one yesterday and one today). Yesterday's box was one someone never wanted. The person was ordering the box of halves to play poker with. Per the teller these guys used to mark up the coins to change the denomination of how much was being played.

Any who my find

0 silver

87 - 1d
04 - 2d 2 p
06 - 1p (has the last coin ring around it)
08 - 1p
09 - 5d 1P
All of the above are AU / BU and had to come from someones collection.

Interesting thing about the 09 is that I am on the east coast and rarely do see un circulated condition D's.

I also found some AU or better 71, 72 and 74. 8 in total.

I think someone out here must have cleaned the silver out. I will try 2 boxes a week for the next few weeks and see how it goes.

Peace

What are the NIFC years? I seem to remember reading that halves were put back into circulation briefly, but not sure.
