oblakavshtanax....could you shorten your name? just kiddin! well around here theres no point in searching Brinks boxes if you are just looking for silver. I do work for Wells Fargo and Brinks and I talked to 5 of the gals that work at Brinks and they all told me flat out when they make the boxes they take out all the silver! That really made me sad...I love all Kennedy half dollars...but I really love the 1964 to 1970's!

I have not really found much lately in boxes so today when I dumped some coins I hit up a few banks. I got $117 in halves, 17 loose the rest brinks rolls. No luck until I foundm in one roll, a 1967 kennedy, a 1952 Franklin, and a 1908o Barber. I was so happy. Finally not just silver but a Farnklin and a Barber.

Sweet finds there monkey. I went through a Brinks box last night and got a 1968. Nothing great but at least not a skunk box. Was thinking about wiping the gunk off of it somehow. Damp rag lightly? Normally wouldn't but this one has gooey sticky gunk on the obverse. What's you guys opinion on wiping off sticky funk? It has hardened on there but definitely still really sticky. I scraped it a little with my thumb nail and got off a nice little glob.

I went through 4 boxes and found:

Box 1 - Skunk
Box 2 - 1 40%
Box 3 - 2 40%
Box 4 - 7 40%, 1 JFK 1964

I am hoping for a decent box soon, but it looks as if silver is drying up.

Went through two boxes and no silver but I did add several pieces I was missing for my set, upgraded several and found one Proof 77-S, ten 01-P's, two 02-P's, one each 03-D, 05-P, 07-D, 08-D, the last two damaged by the rolling machine on the obverse unfortunately. The boxes are brown ad have just $500 Half Dollars on them and I don't know if these are Brinks or String and Sons boxes.

Scrapper2010 use rubbing alcohol to remove the sticky substance, if you use a soft rag or cotton swab at most it will add a few hairline scratches but it does not have any numismatic value anyway and it will be clean. I use isopropyl rubbing alcohol with a cotton swab to remove surface contaminants from my junk coins since it will not affect the value of them.
