In a way, I'm glad I was not searching 10 or more years ago, when silver price was not crazy like today. It would be hard to continue after getting nice finds for a long time.
I wonder what the average number of silvers per box is today? For me it is one 40%'er per 3 boxes, based on the fact that I just got through my 3rd box, and have got only 1 40!
Is there any reason to keep the NIFC's? Are the in demand for more than face value anywhere?

One of the proofs was a 2005 but it didnn't look much like a proof.
The others were nice with the shiny background and the frosted head.
That is a good box.

All this talk makes me anxious about the 10 boxes I am getting tomorrow. We'll see I guess.

im scheduled for 1 box today. should be a brinks/garda box. last 3 have been sunks for silver but I have netted a few nifc's and 2x 74-d DDO's |

Hey SDcoinguy,
They tell me they come from the FED.
It is the long box.
I got a few AU Walking Liberties last week too.
I didn't get a thing for about 6 weeks before that and started thinking that they were taking the silver out at the processing plant. That isn't happening.

pics might take some time. later tonight probably. monkey. they always tell me too they come from the fed. if your is a long box with holes on top, and wrapper says string n sons.. then thats where they came from I think

I hav enever seen string and sons on the wrapper.
I will take a closer look next time. I get them on Wed.
I get a box tomorrow from a different bank.
All I do know is I got the need for silver.
I love to treasure hunt.

2 boxes today.
Box 1 - 1 90% 1 40%
Box 2 - 1 40%
Got about 3 NIFC's as well.
I'm just glad I got some silver. Three weeks and nothing started to burn me out. Dumping these bags with no return sucks, especially when the machine shorts you $5 here and there.. Although I got lucky the other day when I returned 2 boxes of pennies, ended up netting $54.55 when I kept at least $6 or $7 worth.

Monster Score! (well - for me anyways!)
Greetings all,
I have been doing halves when I find them for about a month now with no results - which is unsurprising as I had searched less than one boxes worth up until yesterday. My wife had asked me to come talk to the children at her preschool which is about a half hours drive from here. I had not hit their banks up yet - so I figured I would do that while I was over there.
Bank one had a lone half, looked clad from where I was so I moved on. Bank two was my dump spot and it had no halves - aside from those I dumped and those in the counting machine. I'll be getting those tomorrow hopefully - you'll see why in a minute. Bank three had a box in the back for another customer, but sold me $50 out of it. Well - I saved him five rolls of searching - nothing. All rewrapped rolls.
Final stop for the day was the money stop. Walked in and asked for halves. The teller was very friendly and obliging, checked the teller trays, asked another about vault contents - but naught one was to be found. One last spot - she did something that had only once been done before in my experience and that was at stop one - she checked the coin sorter. She informed me it scored $68.50 in halves. I said I would take them all. She told me she would have to confirm the amount, which she did at a table about ten feet in front of me. As she poured them out I had to try hard not to show my excitement. I saw a lot of 'shiny' halves and was hearing a lot of that distinct 'plinking' sound. It was about then that another teller walked by to show interest and started peering at the halves. I was waiting for the boot to drop - what would it be? We're sorry, holding these for someone else...do you have an account with us? It never came - woohoo! She bags em up, I pay, go the car and peek at the toppers.
I can see alot of 196X Kennedys, including a 64, but have no time to look as I have to go talk to the kids in ten minutes. Talk gets done and then it is down to business as I start sorting. A lot 76s and 72s, but a lot of others too! Final tally:
41 Silver:
1964 - x3
1965 - x1
1966 - x1
1967 - x17
1968D - x16
1969D - x3
In hindsight I should have asked for the dimes and quarter bags too but did not, but who knows! I now plan on getting the bags from the second stop in hopes maybe someone is dumping all over town. Thanks for letting me share - happy hunting to all of you!

I REALLY wish the banks in my area would let me buy the bags from the coin counting machines. I always get told it's against policy. So many times I've gone in to do my business and I see piles of silver in the bags.  |

This was the first time I have asked. They shutoff their bags of halves at $100. I know one bag is all my dumps, but the other one has maybe $5 of mine in it. Could be $95 in bicentennials, or $95 in Frankies - getting greedy aren't I? Best of luck - staff changes - policies will shift. Just play the waiting game (or go out of town!)
