Chuckster, I don't know how you do it man. I have been through tens of thousands of dollars of halves and have yet to find a single Walking Liberty half. To land these on a regular basis is amazing. Wow.

Hey guys! I've been lurking for a little while (a short while) but I had read a few items about coin-hunting for silver and wondered what would happen if I did the same. So I asked my bank to get me a box of nickels, pennies, and half dollars. Obviously excited to get into it, I started with the half dollars.

Most of the rolls had a kennedy on the end with black marker in his ear and I'd gone through ~20 rolls without finding anything made of silver. Then there was a roll without the black spot, I dumped it onto the table and heard a strange sound. Turns out that apparently the sound of a 90% 1964 is distinguishable to an ear only 20 rolls in and I found my first silver piece!

From what I've seen on here, I basically had the best haul ever for a newbie in 2011: I found 3 1967; 1 1968; and NINE 1964 pieces!

I hate to be 'that guy' that asks for guidance right away, but I figured I would check the dates to be sure there were no "S" in there -- there wasn't -- but I wanted to ask before I started working on how to dump these if there is anything else I should look for before dumping these back off -- it's hard to find a clear value page for 1971+ half dollars that might be in circulation.

Thanks a lot for any help and thanks even more for getting me to try this (I'm totally hooked after this haul!) -- and finally, sorry for all you old hat silver miners that my beginners's luck was so good!
