I had a road trip to NC this weekend to see my ailing grandmother. Fun trip. While driving down, I found a small bank off a state road and stopped in. Teller told me that they over $400 dollars worth of halves sitting in their vault for over two years, but some guy bought them all the day before I stopped in. Thought it was a bad omen, but boy was I wrong. The next day, I went to a bank in another rural area by my grandmother's home. I called ahead first and was told they had $837 in the vault.

Of those, I found 181 40%. 6 of the rolls were complete rolls of 40%s. Weird though, not a single 90% coin. I also found 8 40%s at another bank. Because I was visiting, I did not get to check any more banks, bummer but I was happy to get what I found and see my grandmother.

Nobis...now that is a great find! One reason you might find 40% and no 90% is because people in their 40s and older typically know that 1964 and older is silver. However, they don't realize 1965-1970 halves are 40%.

This past Friday my box finally came in after two weeks of waiting. Turns out it was my best one so far in my short CRH career!

2 90%: a 1964 and a 1943 WL. Both firsts for me!
2 40%: a 1967 and a 1968-D. One was an ender.

Is String n'Sons usually this good? I hope my next box has more goodies.

AGCoinHunter - That is a nice bag. It is torture to me when I see them being taken off the coin machine loaded with silver. My bank normally will not sell them.

Thanks everyone - it was fun searching those rolls. When searching something like that you get to the point where you expect to find something every roll. It was a lot of fun. Deltron - thank you for the well wishes for my grandmother. She is very elderly and age is taking its toll.

Stopped by a credit union by my office that I passed by. The teller said he had 2 rolls of halves but wanted to save them for his kids. I asked if he would let me search them and leave the rest for his kids. He obliged. Pulled 1-1964 Kennedy. ;-)
