Well, since my big find of 4 rolls of silver things have slowed considerably. Bank was supposed to order me two boxs but "forgot" so I got them a week later, was hoping the "oversight" would work in my favor and it would result in a better two boxes. Here's the take:
box 1 = zip box 2 = 1-40%, 1- proof 2003, 1-choice BU bicentenial.
Got $8.00 loose change from another bank found 1-1967 then got 10 rolls from same bank; 1-1959 Bennie, 3-40% 1967's.
the ten rolls and $8 loose yielded better results than the two boxes!

Im happy that you score some on the loose rolls Basicbob because I went to the bank today to get my 2 boxes and my teller said she have 3 , so I got them all but didnt find a single silver ! 1 box last monday + 3 boxes today = 00 I think the coins from brinks are all searched and the only way to find silver now is the ones people ll cash from now !. Btw what kind of boxes did seached this week ?

I hate it when people mark them up. Ricardo, do you know what NIFC kennedys generally run for? If anything?

Yes, I was actually going to ask about the black and sometimes red markers. I've had quite a few in my box tonight. Even words and numbers like 12/21! All mixed in not an end of roll coin. I did find 2 40% that was it as far as silver in this box. In my 3 boxes so far 4 40% and 2 90%. I do have a question on halves though if anyone can help-Why are some coins so very shinny? I have gone through both clad and silver and find the same sheen, not proofs. Is there a way to tell a proof for early Kennedy halves? THANKS!

It really irritates me when I come across a good 100+ halves destroyed by red, blue, green, black marker. Why do people insist on completely destroying a coin by writing dates and or putting slashes across it ? Who cares if your coins are eventually getting recycled back to you, don't ruin a coin that can potentially be someones hole filler.
From what I've seen on the bay, your standard lower MS NIFC can fetch about a dollar, perhaps a little higher if it's in pristine condition with no nicks or bagmarks. I just throw them into a jar for now and hope that eventually there will be a nice premium for a roll of NIFC halves.

Ugh, this newbie is up to being skunked $2,000 mostly from Loomis boxes. I have found handful of NIFCs and have been reduced to thinking 1974 DDO possibility is a score. I ordered a box from 3 different banks and they all used Loomis. Is this generally geographical? Like I mentioned before, I think all the silver is being extracted and/or picked. Best bet these days are loose halves, bags, looking for rejects in coin counting machines and customer wrapped rolls. Looks like I am late to the party again :(

Deltron, you bring up a GREAT point. I have run into several instances where otherwise desirable coins have been marked, hole-punched, stamped or scribbled on. The people that commit these crimes are NOT numismatists. They have no regard for others and I place them right up there with taggers and graffiti artists. Disgusting.

Quote: They have no regard for others and I place them right up there with taggers and graffiti artists. That's a little excessive. Though it's annoying to pull a nice coin with a marker line on it, a quick acetone dip usually cleans it up. I mark coins too, but I try not to be a jerk about it and only mark coins that have prior marks on them or are already damaged in some way. I'm amazed at how many halves out there are holed, acid dipped, or sanded down.

Friday nights search was better this week. Got the following results.
$1k in bagged halves. 38 - 40%ers 4 - 90% kens 2 - franks 1 - 1949 walker
2005 S clad proof 1 - canadian toonie 1 - panama medio balboa (2010) $6.52 in extra change
Starting to get into another vein of silver as the past few months have been very dry.

Ricardocody : "Btw what kind of boxes did seached this week ?"
I have the most luck with Brinks rolls. I asked my bank if they get them from Brinks and the reply was, " no, we get them from the Fed." I guess that means the Federal Reserve Bank in Houston. Don't know how they get into Brink's wrappers unless Brink's is their source since I have never seen a "Fed Res wrapper"
btw: how do you post a quote from a previous reply? all I can find is copy and paste as I did on this one. Thanksz

I have no idea if somebody would pay over face for a nifc because we are finding them in rolls very offen but the other member about ebay may help ! Basicbob as same as me all brinks , today 1 more box and nothing besides bicentenial 1976S clad . I was about to think brinks are searching the silver out but after your results I realize they are not , the problem is the minners together with us coin collectors all ready searched all the halves in circulation thats why now on the only way to find coins pre 64 will be only on cwr , bags and ones in awhile some that ll make to the wrapping company after been missed by the tellers at the bank ! I say been missed by the tellers because everytime I spot some halves at tray or I ask for the tellers check the date in every single one before hand it to me lol ! 5 boxes this week and not a single 40% , I might get a box on monday but lost most of the excitiment so far ...
