Quote:Hey snoman, if you're going to buy the sorter they sell on ebay for 35-50 bucks, just keep 1 thing in mind. When sorting copper, it spits the wheats out with the zinc. Ok, I'm not buying that, but do you happen to know why it does that? My sorter is using the magnetic properties.

I really think that finding silver in circulation is pretty much dried up. This last push that silver made really killed it. From now on it's going to be very random in nature, with a lot of skunks.
That is, until everyone gives up...then it'll pick back up.
I like searching to find the proofs and other oddities. I found one the other day that had the reverse completely worn off, except the rim and a shadow of the stamp. I'm not sure if it's a mint error or it got mechanically worn down somehow...I've been meaning to take a picture.

Phil, that may have been me if youre in the SoCal area. I let about $90 of NIFCs out into the wild as I got frustrated with them. =)

AGCoinHunter, can you PM me please? I am wondering what bank company gives out bags? I have asked and they look at me with a stupid look. Although they gave me that same look when I asked if they could order me a box of $500 halves.

Sorry wrestling, I dont disclose any of my banks or providers to anyone. It took quite a bit of study with a little blind luck to come upon my provider. Also, having helpful tellers helped also.

I just found a really nice teller who kept her halves for me. No silver, but I did find a 1977s proof! I also got some ebay junk silver in the mail, and one of the 40% halves was a 1967 SMS.

I'm always so amazed at the secrecy that hald dollar searchers have. I understand why, but its funny. Dime, nickel, and cent searchers, seems like we share everything.

From $10 in halves in a teller's try, I found a 1969-D and a 2007-P.

Yes, with silver reaching a fever pitch and every Tom, Dick and Harry out looking for it I will protect my source that has been very good to me for the past 3 years. I found a unique supply that continues to produce. If I was searching dimes, nickels and cents I can get those at any old bank and get the average amount of finds. Halves not so much. Boxes of halves that I have sampled dont produce.

Half dollar searchers seem to be more greedy.

As I was making a deposit today, after dumping my quarters, I found two 2011-P's. Now I have found all 2011 coins in circulation: cent, nickel, dime, quarter, half, and both kinds dollars.
