Could be ways to save or make money for the bank as well. If the bank has to get them from the Fed or other outside co there are fees. With the new regs just taking effect banks have to find new ways to keep income up. I have been able to order a box every so often but seems to be reluctantly and only have ordered 6 since Apr at 2 different banks

I guess. But with silver climbing again I'm sure more people may think of it. I also read an article that the Mint has contracted a company to reassess all coinage materials. Hey right now any coin has more intrinsic value than the paper stuff! I keep all my change now esp nickels and pennies!

I never had any problems to get coins and they always offer me more then I want ! My main teller is a roll searcher because that I only get full boxes from her bank ! Td bank is a pain to give me any so I only use it as a dump , you need start slow and build up a friendship with the teller that treat you best and stick with him or her upon him or her feel that you preffere to be attended by him or her they ll apreciate it and ll treat you even better with the time ! Avoid the ones who dont like you , some are too lazy to pull a box from under the counter but other are very glad to help you and give you as many as you want !

None of the banks by me even keep halves in the vault. They have to order them and they say takes 2 weeks! I belieVe most banks have cash orders at least weekly once maybe twice

Quote: us bank---will not order halfs fcb bank--will not order halfs regions--charge 7.00 per box went to 16 differant banks for halfs----0---
I've had no problems ordering AND dumping halves at U.S. Bank. I just dropped off two boxes, and picked up four more on Friday.

So I went to ask for some halfs today and while searching I noticed this little"error" idk if it is an error but I figured it would be most appropriate here. Let me know what you guys think

WOw that's a good lot! While I have found 5 90 percent the 13 forty per cent are much better than any of my boxes. My best was 2 90s and 4 40s in one box.

I've been going to different towns in the area, seeing what their banks have. One nearby town has lots of banks but NO halves, and I didn't understand why. I drove through a different part of the town yesterday, and found an old coin shop. Sure enough, people were bringing in silver for cash. One guy brought in several rolls of 90% halves he inherited, probably a couple grand in melt value. I told him he might need to hold on to some of them, and he just thought I was crazy. I talked to the shop owner, and they will send them off to be melted...

Another box today, NADA. It seems at least up here in the Midwest that CRH is starting to attract some attention from the banks. The dreaded F word is coming up more frequently.

The wife and I took a road trip today and I decided to stop at all of the banks I saw to get halves. It was pretty ugly.
14 Banks $53 of halves 3 Ikes
1 1968D
The really funny part was that almost all of the banks were practically begging me to buy their dollar coins!

New box after a 10 month leave of absence.
2009-D and a '71 with some sort of colored resin to make Kennedy look like he's sporting a hat and sunglasses.
Also, I'm thinking that this batch is part of a larger one coming from one source. The past 3 boxes I've searched have averaged 1 BU '95-D per roll. My guess is a casino bought a box directly from the fed, discontinued the half-dollar slot machines, and dumped the box on the nearest bank.

My last box; A 1964 and a 1968D was pulled from the roll in the middle with 5-11 on it. I pulled the other 68D, along with four other halves with markers, out of the roll below it with the red slash on it. And then 5 NIFCs.
