Nobis1: Thanks! Things change on a dime when searching boxes. I've had 6/7 lousy, absolutely miserable boxes then nailed one or two big boxes! This one box could make your whole week/month etc! Hope it's a big one for you! Chuck.

Picked up 10 rolls from a teller today and one was a 68. I can't understand all you guys going through boxes and only finding two or three. I've always had better luck with loose rolls from the bank.

Do you mean an entire roll was full of 1968's or there was just one 68?

Yes I agree there might be better luck with a few rolls than a box, however, the tellers seem to never have any halves ubless I order a box

Of course customer wrapped rolls and teller tray halves are much richer than boxes. My theory is that when you buy a box from your bank you are buying a big stream of sorted and dumped halves along with a trickle (if you are lucky) of customer-deposited unsorted coins mixed in. If a hunter hits every bank every day with "Do you have any half dollars?" then the game is over for the box buyers. We may not be far from this. I don't ask about other half hunters, but tellers often volunteer that they had a few but someone cleaned them out earlier that day.

Four boxes today...here are the results Box 1... (1) 90%, (5) 40% Box 2... (12) 40% Box 3... (3) NIFC Box 4... (1) 40%, (3) NIFC, (1) 87D
Overall I am pretty happy. The better silver boxes were literally over 80% "casino" coins with no reeding. When I first figured out the boxes were mostly casino coins I was very disheartened as I assumed boxes like that would have no silver at all and with the edges being so beat there would be no collectible or high condition coins. Boy was I wrong, best silver boxes I have had in a while. Is good to note, of you get a lot of casino coins check all your dates, some of them were so beat that on edge they looked like clad.

Tamshowoff - I agree. I got I think 3 40% from my last $1000 bag & $500 box, but this week I have gotton 15 40% from simply asking tellers for any halfs they have and a few rolls they took in.
I think I am mostly going to pass on the boxes/bags. The one thing about the boxes/bags, is they do offer a quick source of a lot to go through, if only looking for silver via a edge search.

Thanks Chuck - don't I know it could change on a dime with a single box. I have not posted, but I had three solid weeks prior to this one (30-35 silver) so hard to complain. I just take the good weeks with the bad, they all even out.

wrestling_135,
Im in the SE region of WI. I think our best bet in the Midwest is teller tray finds honestly. Boxes are definitely not for the faint of heart here :)

Nobis1:
Thats it in a nutshell.
You have to take it for what it is every week and not get frustrated when it's a bad week and decide to stop looking.
I just keep plugging away, and do 8 boxes every week, regardless of the outcome, week in and week out!
Chuck.
