JFK Half Dollar Roll Hunters: Silver, Proofs And Other Finds

I tried it for the first time last week, went into 5 different banks that I do not have an account with and had no problems, even scored 1 90% and 2 40%'s, you never know until you try. I even discovered a bank that had a coin counting machine, I just got confirmation today of my new account with them so for now on I will have a dump bank that has a machine, no more re-rolling coins for me.

I've probably been to 150 to 200 banks in the last couple of years. I've only been denied over the counter for not having an account about 5 times, and mostly by the same bank at different branches.
If you are cool about it, most tellers are more than happy to sell their halves to you, it is getting the vault teller to bother going to the vault to get rolls that can sometimes be a problem. You have to know when to quite, to not burn your bridges. I've had to walk away from silver staring me in the face across the counter in order to keep up a good relationship with the tellers so I can still come back and get more halves another day.
Buying CWR's is an art, not a science, at least in my experience. You can only learn how to do this well with practice, like anything else. Just don't be pushy and upset people, or it is over for you at that bank!

jdbeier38, If it's impolite to visit banks with no account, I'm rude as hell. That said, if it would hurt your feelings for a teller to ask you if you have an account and then look at you like you're an idiot, you probably shouldn't do it. Happens to me 1 out of every 5 or 10 times. That said, you can go back to the same bank and ask a different teller and get different results. Vice verse applies...you may have a helpful teller one week and go to the same bank next week only to be told 'you need an account'. Some do it out of policy and others do it to protect the coins that come in. They don't want you stopping by and asking for valuable coins.

I've hunted $1509 so far this week. $9 from a BOK teller with no luck. $1000 Brinks clear loose bag from a local credit union. First time from this source. Didn't find a single coin worth keeping. But didn't find many marked coins either. The last $500 was my normal BOA brinks in rolls. Broke a long streak of no silver ($3500) with a single, crusty 1967 Kennedy. I was so happy to see it. Also found a 2010 Proof and 4 NIFC's. More importantly, I seem to have broken out of a rut of searched coins. The last few BOA boxes weren't even returning NIFC's and about 20% of the coins had marks on them. Maybe 1% of these coins were marked. Hopefully I'm back in business. Also, The teller had $40 in Eisenhower dollar coins. No silver but I may have found a couple error coins. Not sure if I should dump the other dollar coins or hold them. Any suggestions?
