Just started looking, my bank is getting me $500 dollars in rolled halfs but they just told me today they would be gold in color and all 2012 half dollars how can I get them to order me the older coins and not new ones. Any help?

Viper, be careful. Sounds like your bank is ordering dollar coins, not half dollars. A bank can't get 2012 half dollars because those are only from the mint, not circulated. And if they're gold in color, they are dollar coins not half dollar.

Viper, Looks like we're neighbors. I live north of Owasso near German Corner. Which bank are you ordering from? I'm familiar with some of our banks in this area.

Okie I'm getting coins from Oklahoma central in Tulsa on my way home from work, well just search $500 worth and all I got was one 1969 D but that's better than not getting anything. That bag I got had 326 1976 halfs.

I opened the box and saw one proof on the end. I opened that roll first. It was a 1988S in beautiful condition! Then I started getting down as I was seeing familiar marks on the coins. I also saw one that I got a couple weeks ago with a sticker for a local restaurant! Anyway, after a bit, I started pulling a bunch of BUs and proofs! I pulled 8 proofs: 1977S, 1978S, 1981S, 1987S, 1988S, 1992S, 1999S, 2000S. I really get excited when I see proofs. I'm surprised at how different the years look compared to each other. Some you can see more detail than the next and there's no pattern, it seems. Anyway, it was a skunk for silver, but at least I had some proof (no pun intended) that I wasn't getting the same coins over again! I just wish someone dumped their silver in and it got past the Brinks screen and into my boxes! Oh well. I had fun. Woulda been better with silver though!
On another note, I called two separate grocery stores to ask about their Coinstars and stopped in a local bank which has a small coin counting machine... they all said they have a vendor that is altered remotely that the machine needs to be emptied. I asked if I could by any coins, and they said they don't have access. Any ideas where else to check for this?

Wow, trapper, you're getting some great boxes! I am *hopefully* getting my first box tomorrow, and I'm going to make sure I hit up a bunch of other banks to see if they have any loose halves. I hope I have some of the luck that you have!

Do you take pics of both sides of each roll before you open them? Or do you rewrap the one where you found silver to take pictures of the ends? I'm confused. :)
