Bernie probably knew they were silver by looking at them. If you've gone through enough you can usually see that.

By the way you guys disgust me with your luck :D

Viper, I haven't tried Oklahoma Central. I've tried RedCr0wn Credit Union and RCB in Owasso. Both offer $1000 bags (no boxes). 5000 in bags searched without a single piece of Silver and very few NIFC's. No Proofs. Word is that the bags usually get circulated with the local casino's which are notoriously bad for coin hunters. Just an fyi. The BOA's in Tulsa are ok. Their Brinks boxes. Some very good and some are pre-searched. Does Central Oklahoma use Loomis or Brinks?

Well I got my one box yesterday, and the teller informed me that she ordered two boxes instead of one. I was so excited that I ran home and did the entire box in an hour. After dumping the coins, I raced back to the bank, only to be informed that someone had already bought the coins! My box was a complete skunk :( I cant believe that someone within an hour and a half came in and bought the other box. Well she ordered two for next week, so hopefully those will make up for it.

Hey guys. I'm looking to start roll searching halves. I currently Roll search pennies and nickels, but halves seem like they would be fun. Just wondering what key/semi key dates I should be looking for, and anything else I should look for. I'm sure someone has posted a list, but 639 pages of this thread would take me a while to look through. Thanks for any help.

I went to the bank today. They told me Monday they would order a box, but they never did. I went to another bank, and a teller who keeps coins for me had already gone home. I finally found two rolls at another bank, but no silver. I was pretty disappointed, but I checked one more bank. This teller said she just got halves, and two didn't have Kennedy on them, but Franklin. She asked if I wanted them. I put on my best poker face:"Yeah...sure."

I got a '62, a '63D, and a '66!

I hit up over 20 banks today, (yes 20) and each one seemed to mention how popular halves have become. The bank that ordered my box said it would be NEXT Thursday (it takes 2 weeks to order them, apparently). Most banks didn't have any halves. I got someone's dumps (marked wrappers), and on top of that, the woman said there was no silver, since she looked. Out of a courtesy, I took them anyway, which was $98 worth. I went to one bank, and they said they had 3 rolls in the vault. Then she looked at me and asked, "if I get them from the vault, are you actually going to take them?" I told her of course I would. So I got out to my car, and with very little wind left in my sail, I found a '66. I spend way more on gas, but I enjoyed it. I just wish I had some better luck (although it is only my second time).

I also found a bunch of 71-76 Eisenhower dollars, but I don't have a scale, and from the rim, they don't look like silver at all. Will it be obvious if they are silver, like the half dollars?

pretty good today. I'm pretty sure I'm addicted to coin roll hunting. got a $500 box that was hanging out at a bank for a month and a total of $453 from turn in money at the banks. one of the tellers told me all the silver ones from 1964 were removed by the government so I wouldn't find any. My finds:

treasury box: nothing (that's 3 boxes of no silver)
turn ins: 3x 1964's
14x 40%ers

my newest totals:

coins searched 6823
1964 found: 6
40%ers found: 133
nifc found: 11
proofs: 1

i think I'm doing ok still...

I was mostly in Colonie. Maybe I will try the heart of Albany at another time. Maybe I can find someone's stolen collection. :) Haha. I hit up Citizen's, First Niagara, Key Bank, BOA, TD, Sefcu, Capcom, and multiple branches of each. I'm not sure about Sunmark, but I'm sure I did. My girlfriend lives in Connecticut, and she hasn't found anything, yet.
