I've been searching my pocket change & keeping anything interesting for a few years. Recently I started picking up a roll or two. then I found this site!
About 3 weeks ago I asked my wife to pick up 50$ worth of halves, they told her they would place an order and have them in a week. They didn't come in. I was there a few days later & asked if they had any, the teller told me that they would have 450 soon as they had to order a box for a customer that wanted 50. I said hey, that's me. If you had to order a whole box for my 50, I'll take the whole thing so you are not stuck with it. Well another week went by & they called my wife to let us know it was in (my wife is pretty cool & was getting a kick out of helping me out.), when she got there someone else had already gotten 120 of it. We took it & skunked. I opened an account at another bank and deposited them there(bank "B"). I ordered another box from bank "A". A week went by, the bank called my wife to tell her they had not ordered it yet, but found 480 in the vault. Cool we'll take it. She said they sounded "different" on the phone and said "you're not going to bring them back here are you?"....When she went to pick them up, the teller called a manager, "you're not going to bring them back are you?" "No." "Ok". The manager went away. As they were putting the coins in our bag, another manager arrived. "What are you doing with these coins?". My wife is pretty sharp, "We are using them as visual aids in a home school project about math and saving money". She said they made her feel very uncomfortable and like a criminal. I guess we will be moving our accounts to a new bank....
Unfortunately, my wife is unlikely to help me out with this moving forward. The only bank that is open late is the one I have been depositing in. They have a coin counter, I have been re-rolling. I spoke to a manager & she didn't care if they were rolled or put into the machine.
I wonder if rolls from behind the counter have been searched & dumped there?
I suppose it would be inconsiderate to continue dumping there if I start to acquire them there....
