Has anyone else found a die error on their 1995, 1996, and 1997 Kennedy halves? I would put up a photo but have to build my light box first to get a good pic.

There is an extra line coming from the left side, halfway up his neck and extending a full 1/3 as a slightly squiggly line. It exists on both my P and D mints in the exact same spot. I have several, especially the 1996 P (enough for at least 10 or 11 rolls).

Also, what would a good price be for them in AU and unc. condition respectively? The rest of my halves don't have this line no matter what year. All of these coins came from the same bank box. Some of my rolls were over half filled with just these 1996P's. Most have absolutely no wear. Only a few showed up in circulated condition.

Any help on this is very greatly appreciated.

Just found my second proof in my first ever box. It is a darkened 2002-S.

New amount:

1970-S (beautiful)
2002-S (pretty black but still rescued)
1965 (nice condition)

I am hoping to find some better proofs. So far, I am happy.

Wtg Ken. Haven't found a proof half yet. Just searched my first box this week. I rescued a 2001S Kentucky proof quarter and a 1976S proof penny this week though. The penny is amazing. Was easy to see since the field is so extra shiny compared to unc. mint version.

Sad part is that BB&T decided to implement a NO bank boxes for regular customers. Only for business customers and for a fee. So I won't be able to get them to order any more halves. However, they had at least ordered me the one box and as a consolation prize also let me get a bank box of nickels and 10 rolls of dimes. The nickels turned out fine. Better than expected really. I found 1 1944P silver nickel and also a 1996P that is missing the 1 and has a faint first 9 in the date. The condition is AU. There are a few other interesting nickels and I have yet to search dates on my dimes but there weren't any silver ones upon initial inspection.

After leaving there I went next door to Wells Fargo and asked them what their policy was on bank boxes. They said I will need to call ahead first thing in the morning to see what they have and also that I can order my halves ahead of time in order to get them. I just told the guy I love collecting and also promised not to dump the halves back on his tellers. He said ok, np. So I opened an account with them right there on the spot. I decided that I will use BB&T to dump them....lol. While I am in the Wilmington area I can always load up all my change in their free counting machine....lol. Though BB&T has said no boxes there is nothing preventing me from asking for several loose bank wrapped rolls of dimes, quarters and nickels or pennies even. Just no bank boxes and no halves to order. I also spend the halves at stores. You should see their faces...lol. But then again you probably get the same reaction.... ;)

I will have figures to post tomorrow on what years my halves are. However, it was predominately 1972, 1974 and 1996. The oddball was a 2008 sitting all alone since I only found 1.

Okay, after actually looking I actually found these two in the same roll. I thought they were both 1974-s but one is 1974-S and one is 2001-S.

Once again, for some reason, my camera has extremely magnified a small scratch which does not even hardly show when looked at directly. All this and I am only HALF through my first box!

Nice finds Kenscott, I'm excited for you! I have yet to find a proof in any box I've searched of any coin.

Thanks everyone.

1StarLight,

I love the Wilmington area. My favorite place still has to be the Outer Banks (probably Avon).

I am in the Asheville area.

Hi Viper, I use various B of America's in the Tulsa area to get the boxes. At this point, I use BofA exclusively for ordering and RCB exclusively as my dump.

I searched through a box yesterday and ended up with a 1985 S and a silver proof 1976 S.

So next week will be ginormous for me. I will start searching $1000 bags of halfs from my CU. Gotta love the Tax Return. I decided to cut the cherry-picking tellers and armored truck people out and get them from the coin counters before they have time to go through them. I got permission to go to each branch and buy up to full bag and then buy the bag. Gotta Gotta love plenty of fresh coins to hunt!

Pungod...nice work getting permission to go directly to the baggers, I don't think it will happen in my area, they are too stand-offish.
good luck on your adventure, hope you get the "comstock lode" of silver!
