The TD Bank I dump at only lets the machine hold $100 in coins per bag, so when I go in with 500 dollars, the machine stops at ever 100 dollars, that's 5 bag changes, it takes forever. I know of Two different coin hunters who use the same branch to dump at, they must be tired of all the bag changes, and the funny thing is they won't sell me boxes of half's, which is fine, because I might just get the same ones over and over..

But when I buy pennies I get pretty good boxes from them..

I have had better luck with the boxes with holes and not the solid ones, anyone else notice this?

I have only been able to find the Brinks boxes (the long flat box in your picture) and have only found a few 40%'s. It seems as though the people that are hitting really good boxes are getting the boxes from String & Sons (the box with the holes in the top in your picture).

Just my observation

My box with 303 silvers was a brinks shaped like the one with holes (more square and two rolls deep) but they don't have the holes in the box. They are by far the best producing I've found around here. I too believe certain boxes/bags and couriers are better than other but I also believe it's regional. What's good in NE Oklahoma may not be good in South Texas. I really think it's dependent on the knowledge of the personnel working at the local banks and couriers and also the rules at these businesses about pilfering silver coins when they come in.

Jimm7y,
I did about 6 String & Sons boxes from a credit union, results were not to good, 14 40% total. But they refuse to order for me any more. I talked about that in an earlier post.
I like Brink boxes better simply because the banks I get them from give me better service and no hassle about ordering.

i recently finished 11 string and sons with nothing in it, so to me theres no logic in trying to figure out whos better whos not etc, its whatever someone dumps in those large vats at that particular moment - thats what youre getting

the good the bad or the ugly - unfortunately for me right now its VERY UGLY

Hello All,

I went to my main bank today to pick up my two boxes, but they were not in yet, but the teller offered me a box and a half till my came in, I said sure.. I then went home and searched, on a long lunch I took today and ran to my dump bank, I got some flack, but hey its the service they offer so I help them with bag changes and just smile and joke, (said I go to a different branch tomorrow so they could get a break, have all ready done 3 boxes this week here) then I went back to my main bank and got the other 2 boxes before they closed, results are below:

P>S> I just started saving these nifc coins (learning more and more) to see if I can sell them on ebay after I have a few sets for my self...

Box 1 and 1/2
66 X 1

^ I agree with M0nks.

I have had great Loomis (with String & Son packaging) boxes, but 70% of my Loomis boxes are skunks. I have had great Brinks boxes, but most were skunks. My belief is that there is no need to be superstitious about the type of box, wrapper, or the service it comes from. In the long run it all comes down to the fact that someone dumped the contents of Grandpa's coin drawer into a Coinstar machine or traded it for folding money at a bank. And you can't guess which bank or CU they will use.

CRH is about the numbers, and all we are doing is participating in the numbers.

jimm7y, my understanding is that TD's cannot order halves. I've talked to head tellers at numerous branches in different states, all of which agreed to order me halves, only to call to let me know that they do not have the option.

As I said in a prior post half dollars are like a stock pot on the stove you keep adding, but once in a while someone adds a nice chunk of meat (silver). it's all in the luck of the draw.
But dumping is another story you have to be careful where and how you dump or you will get you pickings back.

Jimmy be careful with your comment "it's a service they offer." They can cut you off from large coin deposits or from ordering coins. Banks around me have policies now put in place because of people around here abusing the system (ordering and returning 5-10 boxes per week).

Warning has been made...

Hello ozerman, trapper,

Sorry for the confusion, I asked once for half dollars at TD Bank and got the yes and call later saying no, which is fine because I only dump at td bank now so I hope that will keep me from getting my coins back..

I only asked the question about boxes because, I was told by a coin hunter I meet waiting at the coin machine, he said that the boxes with holes are older and the ones without are newer. I see now the ones without holes is brinks or loomis and the other with holes is string and son. I get two from string and one to two from brinks/loomis a week, giving any a shot...

Thanks Jimmy

Hey wrestling_135,

I was thinking that, when I wrote it, was it you or someone else that said td was giving them a hard time, I think I will drive a town over tomorrow to dump and lay low for a week, do not want to screw anything up. Karma.

OK, two more boxes today Of course VACookey did them while I was at work. The second box yielded 9 40% and a 64. The first box............................................NINETY TWO 40%!!! And one more 64. 103 coins in just two boxes. And again, the vast majority were BU coins, primarily 67s.

This is just one roll worth of the 67s....

after $40,000 in halves I still look forward to my first true monster box. So far my best was 30 40% from 4 boxes.

This weeks four boxes....
6 40%
3 90% ( 64 Kennedy, 61 Benjamin, 52 Benjamin)
10 NIFC
1 doubled headed Kennedy both sides 1974
Best luck to all........ohhhh almost forgot....got shorted one and got a 1971 cent instead....hate it when that happens.

P.s. seems when it comes to 90% halves over the last six months I am getting 2 pre-64 halves for every one 64....interesting!
