Was the box sealed when you got it?

My second box... Yes, they both had been searched prior to me getting them. At the end I found no silver, or anything else. Bank says they didn't search them. Apparently, I have no choice but to close that account. This second box was more disrespectful than the first... I was short $6.50 and they didn't bother to put them back in the yellow/white rolls. **sigh**

And yes the boxes were sealed sort of... I don't remember if I tore the glued lining off or just the brand new tape covering the seams.

Looks to me like you got handed someones dump that was probably there just ahead of you that day. I would look at it from a positive perspective, use it as your trump card to hold over them if they do this to you again. Quite honestly I would be happy to have this happen once early on...sort of like "they owe you a favor". I wouldn't close that account just yet

They probably opened up the first box, rerolled them in those wrappers, dumped them and asked for new rolls after realizing how hard it was to put them back in the original wrappers. Sorry about your bad luck! Hopefully a new bank will come with some better luck. First Niagara orders mine, and Thursday they told me how two employees wanted to open my box so badly. I told them if they did, I wouldn't have picked it up in a 1/2 serious, 1/2 joking manner, but they understood.

I box yesterday was a skunk. So $2500 following the monster box have produced 2 40%ers, a majicians coin, and 3 NIFCs. I have $1500 coming in tomorrow. Hopefully I'll have some luck.

I dont understand why you guys still search half dollars....you know that Brinks takes out all the silver and if they miss one the tellers take them. I love Kennedy half dollars but I gave up searching them because I was told by 5 of the 6 girls that work at the Brinks office that they take out all the silver.

Well I don't know who the boxes come from at my bank but I've found 20 silver so far in a total of 10 boxes and 1 silver in CR. While not many still average 2 per box overall

Why do people keep posting here that "so and so" is pulling silver when they roll the coin? If that were the case NONE of us would be getting ANY silver. I think it is irresponsible of individuals to make such claims just to stir the pot. Even if you have heard from XYZ, that they pull the silver is about as valid as me saying I am the guy that puts all the magicians coins in circulation. I can make that claim all I want because you have no way to prove or disprove it.
Brinks is a publicly traded company, if any one can show me in their annual report where it shows they pull silver as a part of their business practice I will welcome it. If it is a revenue source for them it is required by law they report it.

Why don't you guys search only Customer Rolls instead of buying thousands of halves and getting skunked repeatedly, I mean whats the point if its a waste of your valuable time and gas. If customer rolls don't work out why not just go somewhere and work, rake up some fiat money then turn it into silver! lol

Quote: Why don't you guys search only Customer Rolls instead of buying thousands of halves and getting skunked repeatedly... Back when I roll hunted (1990's), I never knew I could get whole boxes. I only searched customer wrapped rolls and had a lot of success with them.

I am glad my supply bank doesn't try to give me unsealed or rewrapped boxes. If they did, I would explain that those are not going to be useful to me.
$500 in CWR is a dump.

A few weeks ago I went by a bank that had exactly $100 in CWR's of halves, I agree to take them and then when she brought them to me I realized that they were most likely someones dumps because there was a circled X on each wrapper. I did not want to be rude and took them anyways. I searched them just to be sure and scored 3 40%'s so you never know what someone else might miss. With that said, it is proving to be very difficult to find customer wrapped rolls, I am lucky if I can find loose halves at all.

Quote: Why don't you guys search only Customer Rolls instead of buying thousands of halves and getting skunked repeatedly Because Customer rolls are getting VERY hard to find...although I will admit I have only searched CWRs and I have found like 5 90%ers and 20 40%ers. But I rarely find CWRs.
