Well I got my 10 boxes. Most have been skins so far, but I have found 3 64s and 8 40%. one interesting find. I got a bicentennial silver proof! The funny thing is that it wasn't in. Roll, but rather it was at the bottom of the box! Kind of a fun find. It's really beat up and hard to tell that it was ever a proof, but it has that nice silver ring when you drop it

Great finds everyone. Some folks kicking butt.

One thing I wanted to comment on right quick. Everyone keeps going on about which bank and which money service is best and all that. Simple fact is there is no one best service or bank. It is all a matter of luck of the draw. We have hit on all different boxes from all different banks. Thats why we use multiple banks and branches.

So, this week we have done 4 boxes and got 67 40% and 2 64s. Thats from 2 banks, 3 branches.

I would toss back all the marked coins, red coin, etc. Also, the 1974 appears to be a bad effort at a polishing job. No way it is mint damage. That coin was well circulated long before somebody took a polishing wheel too it with the wrong fineness. Even a good polish job is easy to spot, let alone a bad one.

Fred, the reality spot would probably pay better...lol. Found one more President for my godson's album today in between two Dr's office visits. Only missing Harrison and hten he is caught up through 2011. Found 4 1980 SBA's. One is a 1980S. Went to my branch where I was expecting my 12 boxes but ... **&*&^%$&** they only ordered me one. The head teller said the maximum space they have in their tiny vault is enough for 2 boxes at a time. So he said they will order me two boxes for next Thurs. That will still leave me 9 boxes short but better than nothing. He said that whoever said they could get me twelve didn't know what they were talking about... um, that would be the non-teller bank guy I talked to last week.... Anyway, I have gotten about 1/2 the box done and no silver yet. I did find 1 NIFC so far (2005) and a bicentennial coin marked with a date from 1982 scratched in. Glad I didn't let my hopes get too high...lol. So, now I am wondering if they actually managed to get my order processed with the correct number of boxes at the other branch. At least at that branch I actually talked with the person who does all their ordering and she told me she placed the order.

So, stay tuned, lol. We'll all find out together. I now have enough funds to pick up 4 boxes at a time so that makes roughly 7 trips each of my two days they gave me to collect them. Plus, the head teller at the other branch ordered my two boxes.

I made friends with the main teller at a totally different branch nearby so I can also order halves there as needed. They have a bigger vault. More space for an order larger than the paltry 2 boxes.

Your pics above are very interesting.

Tomorrow I will finish sorting my halves and then try my hand at some pics as well. Was too disgusted at missing out on 11 boxes that I didn't sort them all today. That, plus I'm saving a few for my godson to open. He got home late with his mom and I didn't want to keep him up late since he's still in school. A growing young man needs his rest. He looks like he's grown a couple of inches just since he's been here the past month. I think he must have a 10 gallon stomach too. He eats tons of food. Is lanky and still keeps saying he's hungry after a huge dinner. If I just look at food it wants to stick around my middle.

Hey Fred, maybe you can do the reality spots and become famous or something...lol.
If I have to divide and conquer by visiting and ordering from several branches then I will. Still in anticipation of what I might find next week. In the meantime, I am finally getting sleepy so I guess I will call it a night.

Wish everyone well. Congratulations to those who found more silver. At least that way we know it's still out there to keep searching for.

Happy hunting to you all!

Monks,

What do you mean by rim marked? As for marked coins, I have already ran across a few of those in my first four boxes.

Man, I'm so jealous of all your finds! :)

I went through one box of halves (brinks) yesterday and didn't find a thing.

Great results and keep on searching!

hello everyone! I am new to the thread, not searching so much, but I was curious for halves when you open new accounts at banks do you warn them before you open the account that you will be opening it purely for coin searching and also do you ask them if they are willing to order boxes of halves for you before you open the account. Thanks alot!

oh and to stay on topic, searched 20 cwr last week and found one 64 90%!

I may have actually painted this one. I was painting about 1300 bolts and washers red for work about a year and a half ago and painted some change for fun. I don't recall the dates of the half dollars, but there's a chance it was me.

Maybe we should carve "hobo" halves instead of the normal nickel size. Then we might actually make the bincentennials worth something....lol. Just clear the whole reverse side of the coin and start carving away. Would definitely leave room for much larger designs and motifs. Just a thought.... better than carving in dates or spray painting. Although, I must say, the spray painting sounds like fun at this point....
