Went through 16 rolls... 0 Silvers (even my "heavy roll" wasn't anything) NIFC X 2 Spots filled/Upgraded in my Dansco X 3 1 1971 S Proof And this interesting coin...  Would this be an Off Center or a Broadstrike? The edges are still Reeded - they aren't sharp, but that is probably from circulation. |

I found a 1989 Kennedy in my last roll hunt that was ever so slightly misaligned on the obverse, but what was very noticeable was that the rim at 3 o'clock was much thinner than normal and the rim at 9 o'clock was almost twice as thick as normal. It is very noticeable. Is there a name for this "error"?

A few weeks ago wife and I went through a box ($1000) worth of JFK halves.... took us a couple days. (ordered these from my bank). Found 3 40% silver... and a lot of BUs.... I set aside afew of those, but since the money was for rent, took most back... turns out that our credit union has a free money counting machine.... easy.
2000 JFKs stacked up on the kitchen table looks AWSOME.
Not sure I could make a living at JFK roll searching. But rewarding none the less

picked up my very first box. teller was probably discouraging me from coming back by saying "most people dont get too lucky looking for silver here, where you dumping the coins, I dont think that bank will let you.. blah blah blah" and a 5$ fee to order it. well lets hope I at least make my 5 dollars back otherwise I think ill stick to cents.

Gold Plated? Gotta admit I peed a little when I first saw it, then I reasoned with myself that it couldn't be actual gold. lol   |

The "gold" coins we find in circulation were not even gold plated. From the numerous ones I have seen they are what is called "gold washed". It is a chemical that leaves a deposit of gold on the surface even thinner than plating would leave behind. Gold washing can leave such a thin layer of gold that it is translucent. Gold plating usually refers to gold plating thickness of .5 microns or more, washing is .175 microns or less. Inbetween these numbers it is called gold electroplated.
