Ys, an enjoyable thread. Also, it keeps the spirits up when the silver goes dry, knowing that the silver is indeed still out there to be found.

She was speculating that's what happened. Big difference between knowing and just wondering how they got out there.

There is nothing she can do about it, unless the person bringing it in admits it was stolen.

Nothing from Boxes 8,9,10. My bank swithced boxes on me. Before I was getting the long rectangular ones, now I got the square browns ones. Has anyone gotten better results from one kind or the other?

Colles,

I get the square brown boxes as well. I asked the head teller and she said they were from Brinks. This being said, I have learned that Brinks can get their halves from other providers like Strings and Son.

Mine started out as yellow and white wrappers; on this I did okay. Around box number 6, they switched to grey and white and I have had far less finds from them.

Okay all,

Are most of you keeping your halves long term? Selling them? Trading them?

I currently have all the halves I have collected and a decent amount of 40 percents I bought
sometime back and a very good price.

Just wondering what everyone is doing with their finds.

Ken, I have kept everything, I never sold anything.
The silver I have found and bought is my survival silver
it will be passed on to my son.

Kenscott

The first 5 Boxes I got were the long yellow rectangular boxes. I got the 6 40%'s from one of those. The 90% I got was from a small brown square box. I've searched a total of 9 boxes and I've only ended up with 6 40%er and 1 90%er.

Colles,

In 18 boxes, I have only found 2 90% halves. As for 40% halves, I have found around 10 so far.

Do you know if the square boxes are from Brinks?

I've traded/sold all of my 40% halves for gold. I've got more than a half-dozen double eagles, $10, $5, and $2.50 Indians and Liberty gold. Yes, I may have taken a slight loss for the silver, but I found them at face. They just take up WAY too much room in safe-deposit.

I am keeping them. I know they aren't as popular as the 90% silver halves, but almost all of mine have been found at face value in banks, so I will continue to keep them. I think they are underrated by silver hunters/collectors, because of the 40% silver.
