Coming off of a skunk streak (1 40% out of 18 boxes) and pulled 1 1964 and 6 40%. Odd thing was that two of the 40% were a 1970 S and a 1970 D. Two 1970's in one box? I have 2 1970's from 6 previous years of searching boxes.

I have yet to pull any 1970 silver at all. Finding two in one box is something though.

Dan,

You should be able to get junk silver locally at spot if you look around a bit. Will be quarters and dimes too but the savings add up over time.

someone just posted that they found 200 walkers in a roll search on the "interesting finds from circulation" thread, page 173. Wow, that must be some find, wonder how many rolls he had to go through to get 200 walkers?

Hmmmmmm, just wondering.

But he says free same day or next day shipping. Does that mean heck overnight it if you ask. Thats got to cost more than the .70 cent difference.

After my treasure trove last two boxes, I have to wait for the head teller who orders my coins to come back from vacation. Seeing how the boxes were of a different design on the outside, I think I may go four in hopes I am hitting a new supplier with some silver.

If so, time to leverage some resources and go at it until they run out.

My bank orders in increments of $1000 as a minimum order. This is comprised of two boxes of $500 each.

You may find a bank that will order for you and allow you to pick up one $500 box each week so as not to tie up the entire $1000 needed for the entire order.

had a huntington bank branch, refuse to cash out 2000$ for me yesterday, 4 boxes all rolled up. They said for 3$ I could bring in 2000$ loose at a time and send it out for counting, and get my account credited in 2 days. Sounds not bad, but I dont trust that, also want my cash back right then. I would almost do that if they would let me "decalre" the amount and either credit or deduct the difference at a later time, after the count. Anyway I went right across the street to the huntington in the grocery store, and cashed out.

My bank also has $1000 increments in ordering halves, they order them for me on the understanding that I won't bring them back, my other (dump)bank is full of halves (Thanksz to me) and is discouraging me from bringing any more so I have to go to other branches to dump them. At least my dump bank is not putting them back in the mix where I search the same coins again. Have two boxes to pick up tomorrow, going on a two box skunk right now.

Yes, I dropped my two boxes at a local branch yesterday and the teller I know says she does not like to see the boxes.

This being said, I do try to spread out my dumps over the four local branches. I even occasionally take a stray box back to the bank I pick up from, but I think I have only done that with two out of 24 boxes so far. Even then, it was only one box at a time and spread over months.

Found a Silver 2004 proof half last week. It was the first 90% I've found in some time. Being new to this site, it's still a little shocking to see some of the numbers people are able to search.

I would try to avoid paying fees for this hobby. It will kill your ROI, if you get into skunk streaks.
