I actually lived in North Olmsted for a couple years after college - know exactly where your talking about.

I've gotten the V's before as well as the lines. The most prominent mark that I come across is on Kennedy's ear - either with green or black. If I have less than $200 I will usually re-roll them and put a "K" or write "silver" on the wrapper - but I've personally NEVER have defaced the coins I search like CRH DB (or whatever Bish is dealing with)

Good luck to you! and if you ever are in Lorain specifically to dump - go to Lorain National Bank - Oberlin Avenue branch... they LOOOOOVE some half dollars boy! LOL

by the way, did I ever show off this HAUNTED INDEPENDENCE HALL to you guys. this is probably my all time favorite find.

this is why true hunters do it and the only reason I keep going on, no matter what crap is thrown at me. there are so many more valuable coins out there than silver, and the high rollers are oblivious to that fact.

Holy crap, I got 100$ in cwr, about 1 month go, every roll had K on it, they had about 1000$, thats why I only took 100$, that was in lancaster, if you have ever been there. Those cwr's had been opened and looked at several times.Iv seen that lime green mark also on the ear.Ill do some pictures tommorrow, after my 4 boxes of some of the marks I find, hopefully have some other good finds to.

bish that is a sweet coin, never heard of it, or seen one before, off to google to see what its all about.
I agree with you, love the treasure hunt of boxes, I'm dying to find a commemorative ,barber, seated or walker from rolls, I own some, but want to find one, if you know what I mean.

Bish... I have a magician coin I can't open. I tried dropping it on a rug that had concrete under it. Glass jar, you name it. Any pointers?
Also... do you just dip those coins in acetone to remove all grub and grime? If so what details :) (Concentration, where to buy it from, how long to dip in there, how to dip in there, etc)

Lonz... My local credit union basically pulled from the same main vein that the rest of the banks did. You might get lucky and catch a few stagnant boxes left somewhere for a while, but my guess is in the long run it'll run dry and pull from the main source as the others. Good luck though!

Bishftl,

I understand totally what you are talking about when you say that some searchers fail to find real treasure by limiting themselves to silver coins. Though the only error coins I have are a 1972 NO FD, and a 1966 profile doubling, that does not stop me from looking for error coins.

I would love to find a nice reverse rotation error, a strong die crack, or maybe discover something someone has never discovered before.

Also, I love it when I slide out a roll of halves and see the side of a proof or NIFC. For anyone who has done enough boxes, you know the smile that comes on your face even before you see the coin.

Speaking of NIFCs and proofs, I totally agree that marking them is absolutely uncalled for and childish. This being said, I was glad to see you were able to redeem the two you found. I am assuming, as well, that you used acetone.
