he pulled out his own cart, threw 3-4 $1000 clear deposit bags on it and wheeled them in the back door. when I walked in to pickup my 4 boxes, the teller said "there's your competition". While he was cashing in me and the teller had a back and forth from his window and where I was in line still about the markings on the coins. anyways the coins that he dumped last Thursday made their way into my Tuesday pickup from a completely different bank.
BTW, the orange pics from above were from 3 separate boxes out of four, around 45 rolls total out of 200 in 4 boxes, and still managed to pull 10 silver out of them. The rest of my haul came from s&s boxes which we all know are sealed. Also SM is from up north of here, my new bank manager knows who he is as well.
SM is from San Diego... I am in L.A. And would see his stuff all the time. I found him on another forum and we ended up talking on the phone.
I'm new to this forum.
At first I was ticked because like some have mentioned. Some of the coins that we're marked I would have liked sans the moniker. After talking to him and realizing the volume he is doing... It just made me realize that silver is still out there. I would find ten "sm"'s in a box and the. Find a bunch of 40% and a couple 90% - the coins are constantly being remixed.
I'm located in L.A. - is anyone else in my neck of the woods?

Marking that many coins... I bet if it was an actual coin that people used, like quarters or lower, there would be legal action against such a thing.

Nah... the guy is only marking .000001% of all the coins in circulation (or suspended animation as far as half dollars go) Granted, I think it is appalling, but there won't be any news coverage or even an eyelash raised by anyone besides us roll hunters.

yea what can you do it is very disturbing finding those painted coins I better not say anymore ill get myself really angry haha

Talk about marking coins, which I don't do, but I do mark the rolls that I return to my bank.
So, if any of you guys/girls get rolls marked with NG that looks like a N with a wing and a 7 next to it, it's from me and there is no silver in the roll. But would be happy to hear if you receive them just to find out where they end up.

Great finds everyone, Bish, as usual, you rock, beautiful coins.
I am in NJ, too, and I have been coming across the green and orange painted coins. But the last 3 boxes last week, none.
Mine were not the whole face painted on all of them. They were like a portion of it; looked like a crescent moon painted on it, from edge to center.
It seems to have disappeared for now.
I'm not in it just for the silver either. I love the silver, it makes it thrilling and profitable, but I love the coins. A beautifully unblemished coin of any year or country gives me a thrill.
Hey, I asked for a metal detector for my birthday, so I could start finding coins...we'll see if I get one!

Aye I'm not in it for the silver either. My eldest daughter and I are trying to fill her Whitman album together, and although we're missing a few silver pieces and (of course) keep any silver we find, what we're really after is a 1982-D (which we can't seem to find in the wild for our lives, and this is after at least a dozen boxes).
However, I know the %^&*& who's doing this *is* only after silver, as he's marked up some otherwise unblemished, high-grade NIFCs this way, too. (And we keep the near-uncirculated NIFCs.) :-(

I'm saying if it was quarters or something. it may be a small percentage, but people in the area may notice if quarters were being mass marked.

I came across these halfs one has a name engraved looks like jim and something else I cant read got them about two months apart from banks about 40 miles apart. the second set of halfs have a number stamped 2,3,4,5,7 I get these all over 1-2 per 2000 halfs searched. anyone know where these come from? Well looking good for tonight,just picked up my first2boxes for the week.box 1 has a 67 under,and a tails up under,that may be 90 percent. Box 2 has a tails up 40 percent and a 2005 s proof clad.last time I had 2 enders on my Tuesday boxes,I only got 3 coins hopefully this time is better.will post later,1.5 hours or so left at work
