Well I've had 8 skunks in a row, and after all the boxes I've done which id say is about 25-30 I've only gotten 24 40%s and 2 90%s, and no pre 64! Is it me or do my averages friggen suck?
Yes, they do! But don't give up...it's the luck of the draw! I did better than that out of 1 (my first) box. The next 4 boxes (from a different bank) were skunkers when it comes to silver. I did get 6 NIFC out of one of them. (2) 2002P, (4) 2002D. I've seen a few people listing 2001 as NIFC, but the mintage figures don't reflect it. It's not until 2002 that the mintage figures drop down to 2 or 3 million.

I went bank hopping scrounging up halves. most only had a few loose. one had two rolls that netted me (2)40%. Next bank had over $200.00 worth of rolls and I was able to get 6 of them. I sat outside and opened 4 of them to see if it was worth going to my bank to get some cash. Nothing! Figured it was a dump bank. Got home and opened the last 2 rolls and there was a 40%. I'll probably run back up there tomorrow. The last bank I stopped at had no halves, but had gotten in some more log cabin Zincolns so I grabbed 4 rolls!

My bank forgot to order my boxes yesterday, so I was a little annoyed at that. I asked if they had any loose ones and they had $4.50. From that I got 3 40%, about what I average in a box, so now I am not so annoyed.

In one box I found a proof 1981 and proof 1986. I also got some coins from 2000-2005.
And about 200$ in bicentennial halves. I only kept 2 of them.

That's funny you mentioned that! The last 2 boxes I got were littered with BU Philly Bicentennials! I put together & kept a roll since they are nicer than the ones my father got from a bank in '76!

Hey I'm new to this forum and I'm thirteen from Florida and I went through $50 dollars in halves yesterday(that's all I can afford) and found 2 1968d halves, one Benjamin franklin one it looks like and one that looks like a mirror, so I don't. Really know if I did good or bad but feel free to let me know

Any silver out of 5 rolls is pretty good. You say that a Benjamin Franklin you got looks like a mirror? Might be a proof and that would be a nice find. The 1968's are 40% silver and have a silver value of about $2.25 each.

What is the date and mint of the Franklin, and/or the one that looks like a mirror?

The franklin is a 1953d and the mirror one is a 1976s I'm looking through 6 more rolls right now and it would be helpful to know what to look for, thanks-brad

Nice find on the franklin, 90% silver with a silver melt value of about $5.50. The 1976S is a bicentennial proof, (NIFC)not intended for circulation...another good find. Does it look like it might be silver? They were made in clad and 40% silver clad (like the 1968D). Anything that is before and including 1970 contains silver. save it. Any Kennedy S mints will be proofs and likely have the mirror look. Save it. Once in a blue moon you may stumble on a later date Kennedy proof that is silver. I found a 1999S silver proof a couple of weeks ago. Anything that is later than 2001 is NIFC, and has a much lower mintage. Save them, they also have a premium over face value.
